    Positive Outlook

I worked at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The job was great and easy!

    Cons

The new management came from a hotel and did not understand that patients in the hospital could not just eat anything they wanted. They had to follow diet orders given by their doctor.

    Advice to Management

Rules are in place for a reason. Everybody including management should follow them.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Major Hospital System, lots of lateral moves to other departments if your drive is to learn.

    Cons

Pushed out knowledgeable LVN's in favor of magnet stat even after having a school to teach LVN's. Now runs it as a business instead of a place that takes care if the ill, injured and dying. They now call patients clients. Worst paying hospital in the system. Methodist is top of that. I am a highly trained ICU LVN that cannot get a job except as a medical assistant or work in a nursing home and I cannot live on that pay. They like to change things up just as the kinks get worked out. That is from people who have the job of making the hospital more efficient except it is not more efficient because more education training is required with all the constant changes. They have to look like they are improving things when they should be improving on more time spent with "client" and less, not more time charting.

    Advice to Management

Please stop making more charting and less "client" time. There should be one way to chart and only one way reducing the time spent on cow charting and more time with PATIENTS ! Bring back the LVN's in the hospitals. If you want your LVN's to become RN's have a school for them to transition from LVN to RN that may take a little longer, but is do-able hour wise for the student. In this day and age we all have to hold full time jobs and full time schooling is not an option for a lot of us. The burnout rate would be high if we never had down time, especially if we have children or we are getting older. Just saying. Patients are really scared people who are at your mercy for care. They deserve dignity and respect.
