I have been working at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport

    Pros

I like the other employees that I work with. The workload isn't very demanding (pediatrics) and everyone works as a team. My floor orientation / training was very thorough

    Cons

A lot of the staff has been there for a long time so there isn't a huge influx of new ideas. The pay is horrible compared to the national average.

I have been working at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I have throughly enjoyed working for Memorial. They care about their employees and offer comparable pay. On our floor we all work together really well.

    Cons

On some floors the staff to patient ratio is high. You have to be out of work for two full days before you are allowed to take your sick time hours.

I worked at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The facility was set up nicely, and the protocols were followed ensuring a safe enviroment for patients and staff. The staff members were very dedicated to each other and presented a united front.

    Cons

Many of the cases were difficult and required constant care (including constant visual contact). Trying to schedule staff for the patient load was never easy and during times when it was short staffed, documentation would fall short.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was always impresses by the management!

    Pros

Every member of the team is valued because friendly and kind people really look out for one another. Administration truly cares about staff and offers super medical benefits. Upbeat and happy professionals make patients feel as though they too are part of the family. Voted best hospital in the state and nationally ranked in 2 areas. Also, stroke program and rehab are some of the best in nation according to accrediting agencies.

Salaries not the highest in the industry.

I worked at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Large hospital, Plenty of "busy work" when things are slow to help the day pass. Lots of employee coverage on every shift, so nobody is severely overworked.

    Cons

Pay is only relevant to education, job experience pays no factor into this. Too many bosses and people you are expected to know and make a good impression on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont be so hard on your employees...
