Pros
Extra $2.50 on weekends and instant profit bonuses, if your store makes profit
Cons
If you are a manager in the store the company can make you move without paying for your relocation.
Pros
Menard is a great place to work compared to other retail competitors. They offer a good profit sharing program in addition to the multiple holiday gifts recieved throughout the year. They also give you a christmas merchandise credit check every year that caps out at about 250 dollars. They have a lot of great people that work for the organization, and is a good place to build and develop managerial experience relatively quickly. Also overtime is easily available most of the time and work hours are generally flexible.
Cons
The downside of working at Menards is that it takes a long time to accumulate decent vacation time. Sick leave is not offered and if you have fallen ill you must provide a doctors note to avoid being written up. Work most holidays and often are scheduled overtime during these periods. Mandatory to work every other weekend. Responsible for purchasing your own equipment and uniforms.
Advice to Senior Management
Some benefit packages could be improved. Provide individual team member feedback on job performance to improve work quality of struggling employees and providing hard working employees with more positive incentives.
Pros
profit sharing, advancement opportunity, great managment, good pay, good people to work with, job security, merchandise credit checks, safety incentives, vacation pay, holiday pay.
Cons
lazy co workers, complaining co workers. Anyone who complains about this company is probably a bad employee. Menards does not tolerate lazy work ethic.
Advice to Senior Management
keep building new stores, keep building new distribution centers and midwest manufacturing plants, this company is going to continue to grow.
Pros
Decent pay, nearly unlimited potential for hours, Good profit sharing
Cons
No sick days, personal days, for full time and managers minimum hours requirements, managers and full time employees are required to work so many nights, every other weekend, asking or getting time off is very difficult, managers are always on call, long shifts (12-15 hour days) constantly on feet.
Advice to Senior Management
Needs a better work/personal life balance
Pros
Managers, Employees and the our GMs are great people
Cons
DONT GET ENOUGH PAY I work my butt off for nothing
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership is great at our store
Pros
To help customer to get what they need and work together as a team player
Cons
they don't pay really good
Advice to Senior Management
good
Pros
The people you work with are awsome (fellow employees excluding management)
Cons
Terrible management, Ridiculous hours (50-60 per week) Dont think you can go to school while working here, they dont want anyone to better themselves as individuals. If you are desperate and need around 8.00 an hour to get by and you're single then go ahead!
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees with more respect, offer more incentives, and take in cosideration that your employees may have a life outside of menards.
Pros
It's a good entry level job to learn to sell.
Cons
Managers expect too much out of you. You either sell or stock merchandise, but they make you balance both; later wondering why sales are down.
Advice to Senior Management
Leave stocking to the morning stockers, and selling to the part-timers.
Pros
Good weekend pay
Every other weekend off
Cons
Don't always get off when you need to
Pros
it had decent starting pay and helped pay my way throug school.
Cons
Managers are very rude when they want to be. Worked at two stores and mangers were the same at both.
