    I worked at Mercedes Benz Canada part-time

    Pros

    Pros would be getting to drive new Mercedes Benz for a short distance. Assistant Service Manager was more helpful than the Service Manager.

    Cons

    Lack of communication between departments, not enough staff so I need to cover other departments or do ad hoc tasks. No room for advancement or growth. Mediocre pay increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire sufficient staff to run a business otherwise you will put a burden on existing staff.

    I worked at Mercedes Benz Canada full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    The brand looks great on a resume, discount on car leases/purchases

    Cons

    Management incompetance (lots of micromanagement!), no room for advancement, mostly a stuffy, rigid culture with the exception of a handful of departments, unfair promotion practices. I know that there were many unhappy staff that left soon after I did.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Implement transparent recruitment/promotion practices. Ensure management/sr.staff have the knowledge to motivate staff.

    I worked at Mercedes Benz Canada full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Benefits and cars are great!

    Cons

    Company has seem to stop caring about their employees. Now interested in paying as little as possible and increasing employee work load. Management has a poor sense of what's going on... no one takes responsibility for anything they basically play the blame game. So many of my past co-workers currently employed with them are unhappy but afraid to leave due to a poor job market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You better smarten up! It was a great company many years ago and its rapidly going downhill... all the way from head office to the dealership level.

    I worked at Mercedes Benz Canada full-time

    Pros

    Decent atmosphere, nice people, VEP car program.

    Cons

    All the Managers have death grips on their jobs, so movement is non existent in the normal ranks and most employee's opt for the front door instead. This place had more turnover than ANY job I'd ever had. Personally overheard a female Manager say they would just renew a co-op kids contract if he was a good employee (rather than bringing on full time, like a good Company would). In between the educated employee's throughout head office there are some uneducated "lucky" folks that came up the ranks at dealerships. If you have problems with anyone that works there, it'll be those slime balls.
    As for the VEP car program, yes, you can lease a C-class through the company for $450/month...but you can also go BUY just about anything for that money too, and you wont have to give it back when you quit in 1 year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Mercedes Benz is a company run by engineers and solid product. When that product starts to lose its appeal because of the coming CAFE regulations you are going to be put to the test.

    I worked at Mercedes Benz Canada

    Pros

    - Employee vehicle program
    - Flex hours
    - Mostly nice & hardworking people
    - Lots of natural light and large accommodating desks

    Cons

    - Low pay scale & high workload
    - More competition between teams rather than productive collaboration
    - Poor mentorship/leadership in some departments

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Weed out the bad management. Put a good team building program in place. Great things can be done with this brand but is being held back due to so many unfortunate politics.

    2 week vacation;
    Lots of freedom once becomes senior.

    Cons

    Lowest pay structure in the industry;
    Incompetent management;
    Internal promotion almost impossible;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You all should be on the sale floor for a month annually to really understand how retail business works and to learn and appreciate the sale force.
