    Pros

Good facility, many good helpful drivers, Many helpful events, ie fundraisers, dinners, BBQ cookouts, truck shows. seminars, ( all at the cost of the drivers of course) A lot of good friendly in house staff ( not all ). Top notch safety expectations & safety staff with a few exceptions in inspection locations. No forced dispatch. complete O/O, Fast pay.

    Cons

Some planners are rude and only there to collect a paycheck, play favorites, back door load deals between planners, agents and drivers, by giving loads no one ever sees or is ever placed on the load board to drivers not even empty yet while others sit empty for days. . Not on a fair playing field. Loads being offered to drivers not even empty yet but because they have a big house & special they get the cream of the crop top paying loads NOONE ever even sees. ALOT OF SITTING. cheap load rates. Claim to have no dedicated loads TO DEDICATED DRIVERS ONLY and all loads are available as a first in first out to every driver but that's a bunch of BS. A lot of greedy agents that cut the rates to put more money in their pockets.
    VERY POOR IN HOUSE CONMUICATION.

    Advice to Management

Get back to what made Mercer so great. get rid of the van division. when over 3/4 of your freight nation wide is vans loads but 3/4 of your drivers haul flat or step deck your getting away from what put mercer on the map in the first place. Get more actual mercer only dedicated customers instead of broker loads that don't even have enough money left on them after everyone takes a cut for the driver to even pay for the fuel it costs to deliver the load much less make a profit. Make it were every load and every driver no matter how long you have been there or the size of the truck you have must be dispatched though MERCER load board & the mercer planner ONLY or it wont be dispatched. If a truck loads outside of the load board on a back door deal with a mercer agent they get fired. Also get rid of the opportunity to save your load spot anywhere, you take a load no matter were it is or were its going you end up at the end of the load board in the area you delivered to. This saving load spots because you don't go 200 miles or in the same state is crap. As it is now anyone can run say 200 a day back and forth all week and still keep their load board spot for that long top $$$ load at the end of the week while everyone else sits just looking for something as that same person keeps coming back into the area and taking loads from drivers sitting because he has a saved load board spot.. And its not fair. you take a load you loose you position regardless.

    Pros

You actually meet some okay people.

    Cons

Jealous people, pitiful hierarchy, no room for advancement, severe favoritism

    Advice to Management

The company makes certain exceptions for sleazy drivers. They don't enforce the same rules for everyone. If you know the right people you can get away with anything.
