I worked at Mercury Systems full-time

    Pros

Mercury Systems is a good place for new and experienced software and mechanical engineers. It is a dynamic environment to work in.

    Cons

Mercury Systems can become a challenge for Manufacturing engineers because it is a little understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Try to grow the business more and not overwork your staff.

    Pros

Mercury was a good place to work after they laid-off a lot of middle managers. Really good people and a relaxed atmosphere.

    Cons

The market just isn't there for future growth. Everyone was looking elsewhere for better opportunities after a while.

    Advice to Management

Continue toward goal of matrixed organization. Do not go back to middle-manager heavy org chart. The workers are the key assets.

I worked at Mercury Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great technology and products. Industry leader. Has made some smart acquisitions in the last few years to position the company for more related business.

    Cons

Overly concerned with short term profits as opposed long term plan. Sales cycle is long and slow. Defense industry is changing and lots of downward cost pressures. This will continue to pressure on margin and Mercury's competitive position.

I have been working at Mercury Systems full-time

    Pros

They offer training program for new graduate and will find client for you after training. I think this is not bad for new grad. And the program the training include java and .net.

    Cons

The salary for first year is a little low for software developer. And you are not sure which locations you will work in.

    Advice to Management

They should add more options for new graduate. And add more training programs for employees. However, this is good for new grad who need to expand their skills.

    Pros

None that I can think of.

    Cons

Everything - don't deal with them unless you really have no other options at the time. (By the way they ask you to fake your resume)

I worked at Mercury Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good consulting firm for Java/J2EE. Business manager has 19 years java experience,. you can learn a lot from him especially in terms of what's fields have good future. They have very good h1b sponsorship history and place everyone. I value my time, education, and experience at MSI.

    Cons

For me I have no negative experience.. Sure a lot of consultants say its demanding - but we are in the IT field they do this to prepare us for working in top companies. It helped transition me when working in a large banking firm in NY.

    Advice to Management

If i was to give advice I would focus on creating a environment that keeps everyone (not just clients) happy by improving culture instead of rules & regulations.

I have been working at Mercury Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Provide best training to fresh graduate. Start your career at a higher level. Give foreign student a chance to get H1B.

    Cons

Too many knowledge to learn in a short time. Better keep up!

I worked at Mercury Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

3 weeks vacation and a pay check

    Cons

No structure at all. No formal way of training. Throw you into a project without any knowledge of how to carry out the task being requested and expect the world. Management is clueless and forever changing. In my short time there I have seen 5 ppl either fired or laid off and two different CFO and well as executives left. Company is constantly being bought out by others. This is definitely not a company to start a career with you wont last. Honestly I don't think the company will be around to much longer at the rate they are going. Good luck to those still there.

    Advice to Management

It would be best if you actually learned how to properly manage your employees. Proper training is a start and sticking to timelines would be great. Good Luck Mercury your going to need it!
