I have been working at Mercy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good. Good at allowing work-life balance but that is more direct supervisor not organizationa. For me the personal growth was excellent but I have been a 35+ year employee.

    Cons

Management has declined since merger. Cannot get answers let alone who to contact with any issues. Corporate is off site so they have no clue what happens at the collegue level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More connectivity to your subordinates. Seems there are more managers than workers.

Mercy is a good company if you do not come in through the billing department.

I have been working at Mercy full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The thing I like about Mercy is they offer financial assistance to their patients. Also they communicate about were you are as an employee.

    Cons

They have an "at fault" attendance policy, Ive seen good employees leave because of it. They focus more on quantity instead of quality. They do not hold everyone to the same guidelines so if you're a favorite you'll advance more quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give everyone a fair chance, just becaus someone is not as vocal as others doesnt mean that they dont know as much or have as much to offer.

I have been working at Mercy part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This job has offered a great deal of training opportunities including phlebotomy, EKGs, IV starts, and all other PCA duties. The MDI board works well and problems are addressed and normally solved in a matter of weeks. Hourly wage was a good starting salary.

    Cons

Staffing is sometimes stretched. There is a lot of bending, walking, lifting, and busy work. Management is going through changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The MDI board works well if the coworkers have time to use it.

I worked at Mercy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are talented and very good to work with. Absolutely Loved working there.

    Cons

Trying to get promoted is not easy. It sounds like they want to promote from within but they don't always do that. They let good employees get away because they are so worried about the bottom line. I was well liked and told that I did outstanding work, but they would not promote me or pay me enough for the "outstanding" work I was doing. As soon as I left they promoted someone else in my department. I told them for a YEAR that I was ready for more of a Challenge and needed to be promoted. In the end, I had to leave to get a good challenge and good pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let the good ones get away!

I have been working at Mercy full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

You serve the community with a valued service, healthcare.

    Cons

Pay is below market, sort a non-profit for co-workers. Advancement is available if you want to continue to work at the same scale in your current position. Annual increases are below inflation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat co-workers as assets and not only expenses. Know your line of business and not just a good one liner.

I have been working at Mercy

    Pros

People are really nice and the salary is decent.

    Cons

Though they are a Christian organization, they are still a business and will not hesitate to let you go for no reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management changed three times in the few months I worked here. There needs to be more stability and organization.
