Former Employee – worked at Meridian Bioscience
Pros – Good products, nice people to work with. Lots of fun activities that promote teamwork.
Cons – Some managers are have been promoted without having the necessary skillset to manage people.
Advice to Senior Management – Evaluate your middle management team, are they the right people to have managing others? Work on improving the turnover rate. Hold people accountable but give incentives for those who do a good job.

Current Employee – been working at Meridian Bioscience
Pros – they are good at telling stories, so be careful in the interview process, even if you have the foresight to ask the correct questions, they will still "tell a story" to cover up the truth, another word that comes to mind is LIAR'S
Cons – So many issues, where to start.let's see, you will be expected to work 10-14 hour days, navigate a 3 state territory, hit 4 hospitals a day, travel Sundays (regularly),expect to be micro managed like you've never seen before, turnover so high that 25 territories can't stay staffed, most tenured rep in my district is a few months,THEY PREY ON THE UNEMPLOYED/SOON TO BE UNEMPLOYED
Advice to Senior Management – Practice what you preach and try selling the products yourself before giving shoddy advice about it.

Current Employee – been working at Meridian Bioscience full-time
Pros – The culture in Operations is one led by a solid VP who really does seem to care for all of his staff, from the hourly operator to the Sr. Director. A great place to work if you're an Ops person.
Cons – Sales and Marketing is a train wreck led by the CEO who needs to go. The top three sales people in 2011 have all either quit or been fired in 2012 for not going about their business the way the CEO thinks is best. If they can't keep their top three performers happy, imagine how life is for the rest of the sales force. It is a toxic place to work. The Directors in above in sales either don't have a clue or have no sales experience. The try to lead by instilling fear. You'd think it was the 1960s.
Advice to Senior Management – Chop off the head and work your way down until you have a culture that keeps top performers feeling appreciated. Listen to your top sales performers, not the idiot bozos you're putting above them who don't have a clue and don't know how to treat people with respect.
– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Meridian Bioscience full-time for less than a year
Pros – Failry new to the company, but overall positive experience. Key points: good products, strong reputation with customer base, new products in pipeline, and great benefits.
There is a commitment to win and be successful, so communication of results is encouraged. My Manager is very proactive with communication and is responsive to my development needs.
Cons – Can be an intense environment, so not for everyone. Moderately adapts to the market trends, stressing value to the shareholder, rather than focusing on dynamic market.
Advice to Senior Management – Stay the course, but be open to seizing market opportunities today, not tomorrow. The market dictates the trends!
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Meridian Bioscience full-time
Pros – Decent benefits, long history in the lab industry and...I can't think of anything else!
Cons – Sales and marketing is akin to a cult where the new VP thinks he's on a crusade rather than trying to rebuild a failed sales organization. He's the guy who wears a smile on his face while planning to knife you in the back. Most of the regional managers he appointed fall in line with the crusade like behavior, political manuevering and setting people up in order to fire them. A lot of good sales reps have been set up because they didn't follow the crusaders. This management team (including the CEO) are about as disingenuous as they come. Keep your head down, thoughts to yourself (no matter what they say) and keep/get your resume out there. A rep on board for 2 years is considered an old timer. As titled, Don't trust anyone here. Unfortunately I did,
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the archaic culture of fear, butt-kissing and cheerleading.

Former Employee – worked at Meridian Bioscience full-time
Pros – Many of the positive aspects this company possessed a few years back are no longer present. Technical support and trainers remain good.
Cons – Very negative company environment. Unrealistic sales goals have set the company up for failure. Most of the talented sales reps have left. Marketing is virtually non existent or has individuals with no marketing degree/experience. Horrible leadership within the company that believes in micromanagement and finger pointing rather than finding solutions. No sense of team.
Advice to Senior Management – Rather than blaming everyone else in the company for its failures, why don't you identify the real problem and find reasonable solutions.

Current Employee – been working at Meridian Bioscience full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Good products, good quality, many good people. Benefits are at market level. Brand recognition in the market.
Cons – Unrealistic revenue expectations has the organization at each other's throats. Sales mgmt turnover of 200% in last two years. Half the sales force has turned over. Senior mgmt is leading through fear and intimidation.
Advice to Senior Management – CEO needs to go. Hasn't hit the numbers 4 years running. When will the Board uphold its fiduciary responsibility? Business needs to reset under new leadership.

Current Employee – been working at Meridian Bioscience full-time
Pros – There are some good people in Technical Services and Meridian has some good products in the foodborne arena. A decent overall value for hospitals for many of their tests when reimbursement is considered.
Cons – This place smells hugely of old-school management philosophy where motivation comes through fear of keeping your job. There is a constant and unrelenting need to keep up with saying the right thing always whether it's true or not. Insincere compliments and excitement are expected to posted on yammer. The primary product was late to market and has little chance of catching up. Sales and marketing are a revolving door where the best get let go or leave. It's a mess.

Current Employee – been working at Meridian Bioscience full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Competitive Health coverage at a good price. Small company get to know almost everyone easily.
Cons – There is a massive disconnect between upper management and middle management. Upper management appears to want an environment of integrity, but when the message comes from middle management it is more about do what ever it takes to get the job done, regardless of health, saftey, or legal stipulations. The company has opporated for aproximatly 35 years the health and safety officer position was created in 2009, he does not get full coporation from middle managers that are adverse to change and his support from uppermanagement does not always line up with the new culture of saftey they are trying to create. Because of the companies size there is limited room for growth, no corporate mentoring system to help with career development. Lower level employees work is used to is sited as the reason for the promotion of managers. Promotions have been offered and then withdrawn. Employees are afraid of HR, conversations that are suposed to be confidentail, are not always kept confidential.
Advice to Senior Management – Your greatest strength and your greatest weakness is the company size. You know that favoritism is rampant, and that you have employees and managers that are sub par. Please step up and make the tough decisions that a manager should make or step aside and let somone that is willing to do it take charge
