    Pros

Company very good at communication. Communication meetings held montly after earnings review phone call. Plans of company described and questions answered.

    Cons

see wall street investment firm reviews. Among the complaints of outside evaluaters is that Meritor is a "Goldylocks" company, the market can not be too hot or too cold.

    I worked at Meritor

    Pros

Meritor has great people and some really interesting project work. Learning experiences will come from hands on project work. Co workers are all highly skilled.

    Cons

There is no balance between work and home a usual week is 70 or more hours due to lack of administrative support and analyst roles. Quality issues are creating ongoing challenges and it appears that the new product pipeline is weak. The recent departures by several senior leaders without a view to the larger strategic plan is a concern. Formal training and mentoring is lacking as managers are stretched too thin and financial resources are limited.

Meritor is an OK place to work, but don't expect to much professional growth-good experience (First 3 years)

I have been working at Meritor

    Pros

In product development, I get to work on many different projects so the variety is very good. There are many good people who are willing to share knowledge because there is a vast history of products and field experience. This is a great place to learn about the heavy truck industry from vehicle dynamics, fatigue, design and manufacturing. The company makes a profit most years and shares the profit with employees.

    Cons

The work life balance on the surface appears OK, however, if you don't work 7:00am-7:00pm don't plan on being promoted. Also if you are not willing to travel at the expense of family and personal life don't expect to have career gains. This rigid "old school" management style will hurt for the long run because it will be hard to attract and retain talent. There is very little formal product training and no tuition reinbursement. Management claims to have a SDP (Succession Development Program) however, this is rareley used at the lower levels. All projects are poorely planned and managed and it creates "emergencies" to the point were everything is super hot. This desensitizes the truely urgent issues. Upper Management takes on to many projects with-out regard of the personel to complete the projects. Most people are very stressed in the work place and to many mistakes occur and projects are never fully closed and documented. Too much politics and paperwork.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have clear goals and a long term vision and execute that vision. Spend more on R&D and reward innovation and invention. The old school management techniques and tired products must be reviewed and relentless change must occur.

    I worked at Meritor

    Pros

Received opportunities to work in a variety of functional areas in different divisions of the company. Rotations were short, which was good because otherwise they would become boring.

    Cons

Biggest con is the quality of the people you work with. It wasn't hard to feel like a rockstar there and you didn't feel very challenged.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is a tough business and sometimes that calls for making tough decisions. In my experience management was too willing to sit on their hands and hope things got better.

    Pros

Good atmosphere. Great people. Challenging work. Very good leadership. Values their employees. Is concerned about community involvement and supports employees who volunteer in the community.

    Cons

There are no huge negatives to working at Meritor. Sometimes communication can be slow, but that should be somewhat expected in a large company.

I have been working at Meritor

    Pros

Nice people, reasonable level of work, management recognizes you need time outside of the workplace. Benefits above average compared to other companies in the industry.

    Cons

Very beaurocratic and lean workplace. Sometimes communication is lacking. Base salary is below a number of other companies in the industry. Only way to get a good raise is to go shopping.

I have been working at Meritor

    Pros

Laid back, great co-workers, great work life balance

    Cons

VERY POLITICAL. The company has two different ideologies between its Production and Aftermarket divisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The leaders need to realize that both divisions have the same goals, to increase margins..So allow your workers to do so.

    Pros

Company is adjusting to new single business segment

    Cons

Sr Leadership has to approve every single change in the company ... they get involved in every level .. sometimes it diminishes other leaders ability to make decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop having short memory ... one single mistake it all it takes for employees to be put on the black list and targeted for termination. No matter how well they peformed the years before .. top leaders will forget what they did in a blink of an eye.
