I have been working at Merrill Lynch as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

The company teaches you how to track stocks and help in building portfolios. They expect you to learn quickly so the go getter attitude in you is found.

    Cons

The company should market it's self more. This can help to acquire more clients and in turn increase profits. The supervisors should also get more involved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adapt to the globalised work faster.

I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The most positive thin about Merrill Lynch was the people that worked there. The people were wonderful and helped you get through the day. We were like a family. The people who worked there were also very knowledgeable

    Cons

The training was very poor. I received very little training by a staff that was overwhelmed. I had to train myself in my last position. Also we received little support from management and we had very little communication with upper management regarding changes and new initiatives. Also since the merger with BOA there has been a great deal of jobs have been eliminated in New York and being replaced with people in Charlotte and India. Whole teams have been moved to other locations and people who were very good workers and very knowledgeable have been replaced by people who never have worked in the industry

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The training needs to be improved and the outsourcing of positions needs to be reduced
