    Pros

    Higher initial pay vs competitors

    Cons

Training program is overrated: most of it is online. High failure rate >90% due to unrealistic production goals

    Advice to Management

Make goals more realistic to attain

I worked at Merrill Lynch (More than a year)

    Pros

High Salaries Thickens your skin Nice Galleria location You'll have a battle bonding with your peers.

    Cons

Management pits teams against each other for scarce resources. Management rewards the last man standing which promotes back stabbing and political BS. Full of Type-A personalities all jockeying to be the one on top. Environment is full of profanity, intimidation and corporate bullying. Doing an excellent job doesn't matter if you weren't kissing up to the right people. Every issue is blown out of proportion and escalated to senior management. Finger pointing.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let real managers have your jobs.

    Pros

Some very bright people are working at Merrill Lynch. Work/life balance for me was great (I worked remotely from home). Benefits were great.

    Cons

Bonus payout decreased over the last 5-6 years I worked at Merrill Lynch. Company is in cost cutting mode for the next few years, so job security is a question.

    Cons

  10. Internship

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

It was an awesome internship. I was an intern for the Management Team, so I observed the work of the Operations Team, over 90 Financial Advisors as well as the Administrative Managers. I also served as Receptionist for a few weeks in the mornings. Great experience!

    Cons

You don't get out of the office much except for lunch. If you don't like sitting in a cubicle or being on the same floor for 8 hours a day, I wouldn't recommend this.
