    Pros

Great team working culture. Gave many opportunities to growth. Working with the financial advisers was rewarding and they provided assistance when required.

    Cons

Needed some more responsibility at times.

I worked at Merrill Lynch (More than a year)

    Pros

High Salaries Thickens your skin Nice Galleria location You'll have a battle bonding with your peers.

    Cons

Management pits teams against each other for scarce resources. Management rewards the last man standing which promotes back stabbing and political BS. Full of Type-A personalities all jockeying to be the one on top. Environment is full of profanity, intimidation and corporate bullying. Doing an excellent job doesn't matter if you weren't kissing up to the right people. Every issue is blown out of proportion and escalated to senior management. Finger pointing.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let real managers have your jobs.

I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time

    Pros

Now that Merrill Lynch is part of BofA the business is "off the radar." The good thing is that there's plenty to do so you can stay busy from 9 to 5 and then enjoy evenings and weekends.

    Cons

If you're a go getter in the mid to late stages of your career this company is going to frustrate you. Lots of talk and very little action because management's focus is primarily on cost management.

    Advice to Management

The share of market for wirehouses is in decline. Truly investing in the client experience is the key to new growth.

    Pros

Good opportunities to grow as an expert in the field working here at m l and great way to grow and expand and learn

    Cons

Lots of long hours and work life balance can suffer because of that but still not that bad depending on your situation

    Advice to Management

I would advise upper management to pay more attention to the advisors over here and more fair focus rather than just banking arm

    Pros

Great learning experience about the industry. Had the opportunity to sit in on meetings, learn necessary skills to build client portfolios, and it was a paid internship

    Cons

Can be a hit or miss internship depending on the financial advisor. There were a few interns who didn't have the same experience due to their FA not giving them any tasks to complete

    Pros

A lot of overtime! Great Benefits My supervisor was very flexible with my schedule A lot of opportunity to advance

    Cons

Information is constantly changing and is sometimes hard to keep up. Teams were too big and hard to manage and perform reviews on a regular basis.

I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time

    Pros

Good pay, flexible work schedule, alot of freedom to create your business

    Cons

No guidance for younger trainees, you are on your own from the start.

    Advice to Management

Pair trainees up with larger teams in office to give them insight into the business. This will allow them a better change to join a successful team or so what methods work to grow their own.
