    Pros

Great work.atmosphere, weekly office events like yoga and social gatherings, educational enhancement opportunities and room for growth. This company really invests in its people.

    Cons

The first several months of the role the work shift is 10:00-6:30 but after that most teams allow for a switch to 8:30-5:00. There is no free parking. Like most jobs downtown you have to pay monthly parking.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work towards the inclusion goals and offer the extra activities for employees. Also continue on working on communication between the sites.

    Pros

Good sales training program for PMD trainees along with up to date technology. They pushed out a mobile app that works well.

    Cons

No support for individual financial advisors that are not on a team. Overall terrible place to work if you want to be successful. Only 1 out of 12 hires is successful at Merrill Lynch.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to provide more support to individual PMDs in order to help them graduate the PMD class.

    Pros

Good exposure to different business areas, and the product set you are working with. Good stepping stone into investment banking.

    Cons

Long hours spent doing the same thing every day. Pay is poor. There are no perks as there is no budget.

    Advice to Management

Give better training to new starters. Add more structure to the onboarding so they are able to pick up the basics and don't get stuck button pressing.

    Pros

Work independently while building your business. Wide array of products and services available to offer to prospective and future clients

    Cons

When it comes down to it regardless of what is said about distrusted advisor, you will be judged solely on your production

    Advice to Management

Managementshould try to take a closer look at the big picture as to the quality of business a financial adviser brings and not just the quantity.

    Pros

Pros here include very good pay, typically interesting (though sometimes tedious) work, and great experience. Typical of investment banking jobs.

    Cons

Like all investment banking jobs, very long hours and high stress levels are typical. Very hierarchical structures, though it claims to be relatively flat.

    Advice to Management

Don't know that I was really in a position to give advice to management. I'd say that the hours aren't sustainable but it's supported the business model for years.

Really great way to start in Finance without any previous experience.

    Pros

Great benefits, it was a lil expensive but good coverage. Great pay for my position. The HR and support is superb.

    Cons

There weren't many cons at all. One thing I can say that there weren't many company-wide fun functions. I remember having 2 each year.

    Advice to Management

The management in my dept was great other than they laying off the dept to save money :( that was very wrong.
