I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity and room to develop yourself. Culture was professional yet felt like a second family...I'm still friends with my former colleagues. Compensation and benefits were above average.

    Cons

Lots of change to the environment after the Bank of America acquisition but change is a good thing.

I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Jobs are not hard
    The pay is competitive.
    Benefit package is ok

    Cons

Taking career risks and moving to new departments will lead to being downsized.
    Horrible at requirements tracking
Technology is definitely NOT quality driven, even though upper management likes to tout that it is
Management plays politics and corporate bullies are defended

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the surveys, the employees are not happy. Technology is full of corporate bullies that lead out of fear.

I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to get experience in I-banking and customer resolution, but lost alot of its soul with the BofA Acquisition.

    Cons

Low pay, low bonuses, lots of issues, chronically understaffed and generally lacking direction after its acquisition by Bof A. Used to be a great place to work, but glad I got laid off to be honest. Everyone I know who still works there hates it with a passion.

I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company cares about the community- blend family and work easily. Good amount of time off. Good work environment

    Cons

need better training set ups.. learning from employees who are currently doing the job - which means they may not train well or they may not do the job well enough to teach you everything nor do they have the skills as a train for adult learning techniques.. Most management is good and cares about your career development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on training issues. and make sure every employee is getting the same training, recognition and exposure to project to learn more. Just a few managers need to understand life events are sometimes extraordinary and should help those in those scenarios.. not special favors but just show you care.
