Pros

The only really good thing about Mervyn's was the employee discount. Really, that was it. The best thing Mervyn's ever did for me was get me a discount on some nicer clothing so I could eventually get a better job. Sad, huh?

Cons

Hours were unpredictable.
Pay was low and raises were hard to get at best unless you were sleeping with a member of management.
Employees were badgered into harassing customers to apply for credit cards, and many employees jobs were threatened if they didn't meet goals.
When I finally did give my two weeks' notice, I was given attitude about being "too good for the company". I wouldn't go back even if they doubled my current pay.

Advice to Senior Management

Don't treat your employees like dirt.
