Pros
Small regional with a decent breadth of client services.
Cons
Very hard to make decent money without a book coming in.
Advice to Senior Management
Giving advice to senior management is for consultants.
Pros
Good work life balance. Nice offices, good downtown location. Pay is fairly competitive with the industry, especially considering the work life balance.
Cons
The other reviews on this site rang very true to me; there are no opportunities to move within the firm, and the firm is afraid of change and technology. Also, because departments are small and there is no interaction between them, there are a lot of bullies that are allowed to run wild. Read some of these other reviews and you'll see what I mean. There's no accountability, because senior management has no idea what's going on in the literally 100 different business units that don't ever work with each other. Managing directors get to own their little empires, which means lots of favoritism. Also, there's a major lack of training, which means new employees have a hard time doing their jobs effectively.
Advice to Senior Management
You have a firm with only 1200 people but 100 busines units, and each is run completely independently. You can't possibly pay attention to what's going on with all that. So consolidate in a meaningful way, and stop letting your middle management act like they're the CEOs of their own tiny companies.

Listen to your employees. Changes are needed. Senior Leadership in incompetent. People in high level positions have no respect for employees. Lack of communication is prevalent at this company.

Pros
There is a very good work life balance that exists. Opportunity for promotion is always present. The benefits package is great.
Cons
Compensation isn't very competitive for entry level workers in relation to other similar firms. I believe that those with experience are compensated very well though.

Advice to Senior Management
I worked here as a Settlement Coordinator for only two months. It was by far the most horrible job I ever worked. I was never ever trained and had to guess my job. My manager was HORRIBLE. I don't think I've ever had a manager as horrible. Horrible communication skills, no tact, no common sense. Her job it seemed was to degrade and insult me at every turn. My managers role remind me I was not like the others and was lower than everyone else. Every day I wondered why I was hired since she disliked me so. I was micromanaged but never actually told what to do. There were times I would do what was asked and then told I wasn't asked things. I would actually take notes so that I could learn and was discouraged from doing so. The final straw was when she pulled me into her office, not to give me a warning, but to tell me I needed to "shape up" (mind you with no training) or I was getting fired. Being that I had no clue what I was doing, no training, or no support. I quit. I literally walked out of that job and never went back. I received phone calls and letters on a regular basis trying to figure out why I never came back. I never answered them. I gave them the same amount of respect and communication they gave me.
I think my experience was so bad because this office was located in Dallas and was essentially isolated from the rest of the company. I guess because of this corporate and upper management turned a blind eye to what was going on.
I knew it should have been a red flag when all the employees told me stories of all the former people in my position.
Pros
Barely any... Nice office location.
Cons
Low pay, lower morale. Upper management does not care about the integral operational employees of the company, they are the bottom of the totem pole.
Advice to Senior Management
Open your eyes and see how important your operational departments are. There is a reason why everyone with talent leaves at the drop of a hat...
