    Pros

Great company. Excellent management. Co-workers are helpful, fun, and extremely encouraging. Love the team environment. The potential to make a lot of money is there.

    Cons

Days can seem very long. Tasks are a little too repetitive for my liking. Sometimes it can get a little too loud in the office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think management does pretty well. They are encouraging and really want their employees to be successful and have long careers with the organization.

    I worked at MessageLabs

    Pros

    Product is excellent
    Tech Support is Excellent
    SE Support Is Excellent
There are some strong partner relationships, however, those may be in peril as the company becomes integrated with Symantec

    Cons

    Management is Awful
Business is viewed on a micro Month to month scale
HR in New York has no say in any matters at all and must go to Ca for all issues
There is no real guidance as to what will happen from a product perspective now that the company has been bought
There has been a tremendous amount of management turnover in the last few years

    Hire them, fire them mentality

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest time (and money) in getting out of date test envs and systems updated.

Good fellow colleagues but lack luster growth opportunities and unsupportive management.

I have been working at MessageLabs

    Pros

Fellow co-workers are very supportive and willing to help you learn and solve issues. You are also exposed to a lot of technology and get to learn a bit about everything in a relatively short period of time.

    Cons

While the company has some brilliant developers working for them, the amount of knowledge sharing from them to their support staff is lack luster. The amount of engineers to lower level support staff is low, meaning that ticket escalations for customer issues are not openly accepted as they should be. Overall, there seems to be a shortage of staff on the engineering and support side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As advice, I would suggest that they focus on training lower management on how to properly find talent from within instead of always hiring from the outside. There are many occasions where a good number of higher paying local jobs are only hired for externally.
