I have been working at MetLife

    Pros

Work life balance. Average bonus and nice office building. Not really much else, company sucks

    Cons

Lack of promotions, old school management. Lack of innovation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace old people with young. Stop promoting people staying in their positions for 15-20+ years

    I worked at MetLife

    Pros

Opportunity to work with some really great managers and co workers. Challenging projects to work on. Definitely learned a lot working here. Work life balance is possible with the right management team,

    Cons

Very difficult to find new jobs within the company. The culture is very political. Many people are placed in positions without any experience because they were friends with the hiring manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More effort could be made to hire people with equal emphasis on skills and personality. Overtime work could be reduced with more understanding of the job and supervision by management.

I have been working at MetLife full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Brand recognition goes a long way in the insurance industry and MetLife has an excellent name that is renowned and respected. The work life balance is a plus; especially for working professionals with families.

    Cons

From an IT perspective the company is behind the times. The lack of integrated systems and disjointed business areas make it difficult to exude efficiency. A fairly conservative company that removes itself from competition by pricing out of the market. Advertising is a weakness.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase IT efficiency and better business segment integration/communication
