    Pros

MetLife Home Loans was such a great place to work. MetLife offered so many great opportunities, great benefits, and the people were amazing.

    Cons

We had built such a great team, and then came the announcement that they were "closing the doors." It left so much great talent flat footed.

    Pros

Many employee discounts and perks given. Cares about their employees as a whole

Reviews were never productive and followed through with in some departments and company did not stay with the business line commitment.

I worked at MetLife Home Loans, a division of MetLife Bank, N.A. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

MetLife Home Loans offered competitive compensation.

    Cons

We treated customers poorly, and our "professionalism" was superficial.

    Advice to Management

Our customer service department was incapable of answering customers' questions and fixing their problems. I would advise management to work on figuring out how to answer customers' frequently asked questions, and figure out how to fix customers' frequently presented problems.

  8. The MetLife Bank was the best part of my career so far, then MetLife Inc decided to liquidate it.

I worked at MetLife Home Loans, a division of MetLife Bank, N.A. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very capable senior management, not afraid to empower subordinates. High touch, but not micromanaged. New challenges almost everyday.

    Cons

Light on the salary, but made up in bonus and stock options. Long hours, but working from home made it tolerable. Tough to get promoted, easier to hire from the outside than groom from the inside.

    Advice to Management

Promote more internally. Develop a better succession plan and communicate it.

I worked at MetLife Home Loans, a division of MetLife Bank, N.A. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid company, predictable. Pay, benefits, review process and time off were commensurate with similar large companies. To the extent that the original culture (before MetLife purchased) remained intact it was a fulfilling place to work. Most changes brought by MetLife were net destructive to morale and to the bottom line.

    Cons

There were a lot of committed, talented people at First Horizon. Employee morale was clearly important and innovation was supported. With the MetLife purchase, innovation was stifled tremendously and poor management decisions could not be corrected with employee feedback or input. It was like trying to stop a freight train. I saw lots of money spent injudiciously for bad outcomes.

    Advice to Management

Empower the creativity and ideas of employees. Be smarter with spending.
