I worked at Metaldyne as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great experience as far as co-ops go. Gives you plenty of actual engineering work on top of the usual busy work. Very laid back management style, casual dress code, flexible hours. People are friendly and willing to help if you have questions. Management is very approachable and stays out of peoples way. As long as you do a good job you'll be fine.

    Cons

Some of the work they give you is a bit harder than you would expect as a co-op, which is great for getting experience, but can be a bit overwhelming. But, as stated before, people are more than willing to help so don't feel embarrassed to ask for it.

Also this job is located in the middle of nowhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The fact that you don't nit pick over small things like dress code and hours makes for a very relaxed work environment. Keep doing that.

I have been working at Metaldyne

    Pros

Good size company. Big enough to have opportunities and benefits, yet, still not too much bureaucracy.

    Cons

Terrible industry right now and currently paying for bad past decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a well-defined plan for the future, the "Plan to Win" is a joke and is the same kind of thinking that got the company in the trouble it is now.

    I worked at Metaldyne

    Pros

Overall, It has a great culture even after the downturn of the auto industry. People can feel the vibe in the company that things are getting better. Management seems to care about all of the employees

    Cons

Working at HQ is a great experience, but sometimes the departments feel segregated from the others. This can create the feeling of "what is "John" doing over here?
