Pros
Work was challenging; Able to achieve a work - personal life balance; Flexibility; Supported professional training; Good senior management.
Cons
As with all companies, there were always challenges trying to get funding and resources to get the work done due to conflicting priorities.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work; listen to your people...they are your most important assets. Address the needs of the future.
Pros
employment in a very tough economy
Cons
Senior Management making decisions based on favortism and not facts!
Advice to Senior Management
Remove the corruption! When you are not consistent in applying/enforcing rules for all. You open everyone up to unfair practices!
Pros
They have excellent training and reference resources for your day to day job. You'll learn a lot about banking, payment processing, technical troubleshooting, bill pay, tax services, and call-center customer service. All of those skills combined for one job looks good on a resume.
Cons
It's a lot to learn in a stressful environment for little pay. There's no good incentive programs or bonuses for the hard work that's put in to managing the phone lines and irate customers. Also, it's a 24/7 operation center, so schedules aren't always flexible.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be nice if the management team did occasional meetings with their teams to open up the line of communication.
Pros
1. Very technical oriented firm. So if you are from a technical background this will be a good fit for you
2. Growth opportunities are a lot.
3. Stable management
Cons
1. Not in New York
2. They are on an acquisition binge right now so a lot of getting used to the different new processes
Advice to Senior Management
The rate of acquisition's has to slow. It feels like binge drinking.
try to extract value in the current firm rather than go outside
Pros
Job security as company still meeting numbers
Cons
too many layers to be able to noticed and gro within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Have 36 degree review process to rate managers as well. Managers get full freedom to make their own rules that may get company in trouble
Pros
- Biggest pro is the people. They are awesome. And in the office I was in they tried really hard to make it a fun and interactive type environment. We would always have events like contests on who made the best mini-golf course. Tons of fun!
- The people that I worked with were highly competent.
- Flexible work hours and willingness to allow you to be an adult and assure that you get your work done.
Cons
- No room for growth
- Increase in pay is minimal
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be some focus on career path and development, especially when someone reaches the end of the career path that has been outlined.
Pros
- Good people around - knowledge galore
- 100% 401k match
- Very flexible working hours and work from home policy
Cons
- Career progress challenging - Limited roles for progress in technical, functional or even QA roles
- Demanding work - Might have to work on weekends also
Advice to Senior Management
- Great Leadership. Had full faith that this would become a global company, however shouldn't have merged with FIS. Not sure how the culture will change now.
Pros
Was a good company, with respect for employees even if was not perfect.
Cons
Management decision to sell to FIS made senior executives even richer, but mainstreet employees in a much worse position. Benefits reduced and the 'not discussed' layoffs left morale low.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit trying to pretend that the layoffs aren't happening.
Pros
Was a warm, familial culture. Very client-focused with superior work-life balance.
Cons
Metavante's culture will change dramatically now as Fidelity.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on change management and communication. 5,000 plus employees of MV feel you sold out.
Pros
The flexibility which allows a worker to work from home when there is a sick child as opposed to taking sick time.
Cons
The necessity to adapt to our new employer's policies.
Advice to Senior Management
dont forget that employees value vt, sometimes to the point of choosing more vt over salary increases.
