    Pros

Great benefits. Room to grow and advancement. Their mission is commendable.

    Cons

Constant change in leadership made it difficult to accomplish the goals set by CEO and the Board of Directors.

    Advice to Management

    Stand behind your performing employees.

I worked at Metrolink (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are okay for a small agency.

    Cons

This agency only carries 18,000 riders per day and is deemed an industry joke. This Agency should be dismantled. Marketing can not provide ROI for their campaigns, management does not understand their customer base. They spend the tax payers money on "shiny new items" based on the dysfunctional Board members whim. Unless you are friends with the HR director you will not be promoted.

    Advice to Management

    Dismantle this Agency.

    Pros

Relatively easy work...but when it's bad it's really bad...pretty good pay for the work we do...yet we earn every penny when ---- hits the fan.

    Cons

Trains constantly breakdown....ticket Machines constantly breakdown and steal peoples money that they have the nerve to have a no refund policy knowing the machines are constantly breaking down (machines 20+ years old, so so sad)..which makes our jobs that much harder....all their Systems that they currently use are extremely outdated....half the time their passes don't even work.....some of passes cost as much as car note...so why are they selling defective passes @ car note rates and they still don't work? ..Metrolink is a big ol dinosaur they are reactive never proactive... they have the worst marketing team I have ever seen....everyone thinks they are Metro the bus company...as a marketing team shouldn't be able to come up with something to differentiate between the two...nope fixing things always after the fact they don't even keep mechanical parts in stock..that's why there 20+ year old engines are always breaking down..they recycle old parts too another reason their trains are always breaking down...i think a bunch of dummies run this company....when & if they ever really fix things..I doubt it....main office people are all rude...no one speaks to anyone...it's a cold creepily quiet place to work...honestly...Monday's my last day....yay me!!!....people are constantly jumping ship...to work somewhere else they promote you if they like you only even if your under qualified for the part a lot of favoritism....they suck

    Advice to Management

    Wake up it's 21 century!!

I worked at Metrolink full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very few pros, if any. This place is a sinking ship... Someone or something must grab the wheel and redirect.... And fast...

    Cons

Executive leadership does not understand the core business and thereby makes decisions (when they get around to it) in a vacuum, in silos, and primarily to benefit themselves and their own personal interests. This has created high % of turnover, a huge loss of knowledge-based key personnel and an influx of newly-hired staff without agency or rail experience. A very dangerous combination.

    Advice to Management

Learn your core business--moving people safely by rail. Clean house at the highest level. Cut the infighting and politics. EDUCATE STAFF. Grow up and learn from your mistakes.

    Pros

The only pros are the salary and benefits; health, vision, dental, pension, fsa, life insurance, etc... I wish i could say more positive things about this company.

    Cons

nepotism, no career advancement, constant back stabbing and blaming, constant re-orgs, upper management does not support their staff and most of them lack people skills. it is a very unhappy place with low morale.

    Advice to Management

take classes on how to be a leader and manager

    Pros

benefits, transportation passes, paid time off

    Cons

corrupt, incompetent, unqualified management and extremely low morale

    Advice to Management

All managers should be reevaluated/audited for job competency, especially the HR dept. Turnover is extremely high and nothing has been done to improve it.

    Cons

I worked at Metrolink full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some nice people, great pay, excellent benefits, including access to the CapPERS pension program.

    Cons

A rumor mill, they will work you until you fall down dead at your desk and then prop your corpse back up and make you keep on working. Not enough money to hire the amount of staff they need to keep up with the workload, a lot of the staff is incompetent because they have been "over-promoted" into their jobs when they should not have been. Computer programs need updating and maintenance and have been given neither.

    Advice to Management

Turn in an accurate budget to your funding agencies that realistically reflects what it takes to fully run a railroad.

I worked at Metrolink full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You might have a positive influence on how your tax dollars are distributed.

    Cons

Changing Board of Directors, political back-stabbing, conflicts of interest and change in CEO's.

    Advice to Management

It's not about saving money and spending it wisely, it's about spending it. Generally there are no pay raises and do not look to be appreciated by the Board, or in some cases by the Senior Leadership Team. It's all about them.
