I have been working at Metropolitan Bank

    Pros

    - Community bank. Customers are like family, the only reason why you should continue working here.
    - Good entry to banking.
    - Lenient sales quotas.

    Cons

    - Office politics.
    - Difficult to get promoted if you are not bilingual.
    - Management does not recognize hard work.
    - Most branch-level employees work just to just get a paycheck. White collar dead-end job.
    - Expensive insurance plans and no 401k matching.
    - Salary is below 20% of competing banks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Conduct branch audits more often is the only way to improve Metropolitan Bank. Branch management is simply terrible: logs are not completed, important paperworks are not filed regularly.

I have been working at Metropolitan Bank

    Pros

Community bank, customers are friendly and happy to be there.

    Cons

It seems like management just wants to continue dipping onto the pockets of the employees, taking any and all incentives ie no 401k matches, health insurance that no one can afford. The pay here is very, very little while they expect employees to work long hours and just keep cutting benefits and pay. There is very little commication to the employees about what is going on the bank and little or no recognition from upper managment to the "little guys" working their tails off. Very depressing environment..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees better, if you cant afford to do more for them at least send them some recognition. Emails are free...It doesnt cost anything to say "thank you" once in a while and it might go a long way in cementing loyalty. Ivory towers are not good :(

I worked at Metropolitan Bank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    relaxed and family like atmosphere

    Cons

Too many captains wanting to steer the ship, thus making some departments irrelevant

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont be carried away by sycrophants. They tend to give the wrong picture just to look good.
