I have been working at Metropolitan Jewish Health System full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I think MJHS pays higher than most of the competing companies and the benefits are very good.

    Cons

Management either micromanages or your concerns fall of deaf ears.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take your time to listen and be pro active to the workers who are out there in the field who are the primary source of revenue. Find ways to boost the workers morale due to lay offs happening almost annually.

I worked at Metropolitan Jewish Health System full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Aggressive at growth. Profitable. Friendly staffers especially at the non and middle management levels.

    Cons

Too many managers with too little to do. Questionable ethics: outside contracts given via nepotism or some other personal reason. Too many meeting for management that result in nothing. Lifers there who will willingly stab newcomers in the back to keep their cushy positions. Lower-tiered employees bullied and unappreciated. Acquired properties/employees treated like red-headed stepchildren.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the favoritism. Stop bullying employees into contributing to the yearly fundraiser--it's completely unethical. 5 star reviews obviously come from sycophants in HR.

Prior to major company reorganization, senior leadership was like family. Now, who knows?

I have been working at Metropolitan Jewish Health System full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Outstanding benefits and paid employee time off.

    Cons

Intrusive micro management of senior Business Initiatives SVP. Not given credit for results of individual work and performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the employees do their job and reward them for a "job well done" and institute and bonus program for work based performance. Further, it is critical to the future of the company, that MJHS have the ability to make decisions quickly. A major shortcoming is the inability of the company to produce new and market specific advertising and promotional material, in a timely manner. It takes "months" to get any new material approved and then printed for distribution - from basic company business cards (3-4 months), to new brochures (6 months and counting).

    Pros

Nice people, good working environment. Seems like the management really cares about the people they hire.

    Cons

They seem to value seniority more than merit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for qualified people in your team to promote. Seniority should be based on performance and contribution.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior Management needs to be more visible. They really should get to know staff better. That relationship building goes a long way.

I worked at Metropolitan Jewish Health System full-time for more than a year

    Pros

9-5 hours, solid benefits and direct deposit are the only reasons you would want to work there.

    Cons

Cons include: Location, Location...not, unless you like working in the industrial sections of Bayridge, this is for you; lack of growth opportunities; being almost "bullied" into donating annually to their "Foundation".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transparent to your employees.
