Fantastic, Fast Paced, No Slackers Tolerated

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsMFG.com is a place for the top percentile in terms of intelligence, work ethic and energy. There are lot's of moving parts, it is a global business, very innovative and changing a stale industry. Fun work environment with little politics. Lot's of interaction with the visionary Founder / CEO who is a talented motivator that holds people accountable and isn't afraid to make the tough decisions when need be.

ConsAs long as you are working hard and "thinking" the downsides are few. Probably the greatest challenge is that MFG.com is forging a new path and bringing major efficiency to the manufacturing industry and not all people running small manufacturing companies are savvy enough to embrace change and try to fight it. Dealing with those people can be trying. But when I speak to those customers that "get it" it cancels out the frustrating conversations with those that don't .

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't lose the culture. MFG.com is an amazing place to work. Don't hire any more "professional managers" that don't understand how to operate in an entrepreneurial, global, fast paced company. Publish more case studies talking about all the success I hear about on the phone every day when speaking with customers.

    Great... if you are hitting

Sales Manager (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsGreat vibe, Great Team, Very flexible, and very causal. All things considered this is a very good company to work for.

ConsPerformance is king and people work hard to hit their numbers. You must be prepared to do the same. There is very little tolerance for slackers.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore focus always helps, but generally they are on the right track. I liked the way the company was managed.

Disappointed to see such a good business idea wasted

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsAs stated in other reviews, MFG.com has a very relaxed and fun work environment. The benefits package is quite good, but that is where the pros stop.

In it's heyday of "free spending" ways there were some international travel opportunities available to select people, but with revenues plummeting this is no longer an option.

ConsMFG.com has an unsustainable business model. They have been hemorrhaging money since the day they were founded and have never managed to be profitable. The opportunities for growth are non-existent and career planning is never considered.

The compensation is sub-par because MFG.com tries to milk every worker for 150% while paying next to nothing. There are no raises to speak of, and no programs to reward above and beyond achievement.

"Communication" hardly describes the interaction between management and the employees. "Deception" or "Deflection" are more appropriate words for how the management deals with information about the company.

The management just does not have the right skill set to support that organization, and employees often wonder whether the board of directors is too distracted to see this or if they just don't care.

Advice to Senior ManagementFix the business model. Care about your employees. Those two simple tenants could turn your business around.

By providing actual value to your customers rather than having your sales team bully people into contracts you will build a strong customer base that will continue to pay you for the value they receive. No value = no revenue, plain and simple.

By showing no respect for the workers who make up the backbone of your organization you discourage them from going above and beyond and turn them into 9-to-5 clock punchers. You have proven in the past that you will stab anyone in the back for a dollar and you have a lot of work to do in order to turn that image around.

    MFG

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsThe best part about MFG was the work environment that they offered. It was very laid back and you where not micro managed

ConsThe downside of MFG was the lack of guidance and training that they provide employees with. Feels like things just kind of happen on the fly.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere were pointless meeting each month that took out of sales time and to make sure that things are 100% before putting them into place

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsGreat place to work if you can keep up. Very high energy place with lots moving parts. Good people, but slackers are not tolerated. Pay, Benefits, and opportunity are better than most firms in Atlanta.

ConsMust work hard. Must be accountable.

Great potential but unfortunately due to poor management no way to unlock it...

MD EMEA (Former Employee) Geneva (Switzerland)

ProsGreat idea, one of the first player in the market, solid shareholders, a (at the time at least) great team (that in the meantime has mostly moved on, unfortunately), what else could you want?

ConsAwful culture when the CEO was involved, and everybody talking badly behind his back. Knee-jerk changes of focus and strategy, and unfortunately a week Board that ensured nothing ever changed.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo point to give advice, nothing will change...

Was a great place to work, CEO is stubborn

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood talent, but most of it left the company

    ConsBusiness model is very flawed
    Employees are not valued
CEO is a control freak with other issues
IT is regarded as a factory
    Processes are poor
    Customers are unhappy

Advice to Senior ManagementNew CEO would help.
