I have been working at Miami Air

    Pros

    -Health benefits
    -employee discount network
    -free tickets
    -free flight on ferry flights
-surprisingly CEO cares and respects employees more than most managers and supervisors

    Cons

-Dental and vision insurance is the worst ive seen
-some managers lack in mangement training
    -company needs better incentives
-no opportunities to advance within company
    -not paid what your worth
-many have mentioned they used to be excited to come to work rather than just for a paycheck. Not anymore
-company policy has been broken many times when it comes to per diem and vacation time
-salaried employees are owned by the company and must be available 24/7
-according to HR, departments supervisors and managers could practically get away with murder
-many employees feel badgered for addressing issues or concerns. In many cases retaliated upon by manager
-many see the company failing in a few years

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-take some kind of training on how to manage better
-treat your employees with respect and appreciation rather than like mules 'cause the pay isnt worth it
-stop being stuck up. Surprisingly unlike most companies, the CEO treats employees better than department managers
-listen and pay attention to your employees more
-stop making salaried employees feel like you own them 24/7
-seniority in the company does not mean employees are ALWAYS wrong. HR really needs to be more neutral rather than always making employees wrong when they address managerial issues.
-MAKE your employees feel comfortable to address rather than saying it.
-offer room for expansion within company rather than ignoring current employee applications and strictly hiring outside newbies

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Miami Air

    Pros

People were very friendly, very cooperative. They really take care of you as an employee. Lots of benefits, 401k, lots of vacation and sick time.

    Cons

None that I can think of. It was a pleasure working there.

I have been working at Miami Air part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    10 Days Off Per Month
    Paid Vacation
    Popup Travel
    Hotel Stays
Location for a South Florida Resident
A unique opportunity to go to places other airlines cannot travel
Private Charter = better clientele than commercial airliners

    Cons

    Wages (Everyone Complains)
Petty People to work amongst ("Sophomoric Drama")
    Size of the Company (small)
    Sexism (from Upper Management)
    Racism (from Upper Management)
Micromanage Every Aspect of your Month
Strict on Appearance, unlike commercial airliners
Always on Reserve/Standby (24/7), other than the 10 Days Off
    Work long hours
No 24-hour break after crossing Atlantic, unlike major airlines
    Non-exciting Travel

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Computerizing the monthly schedules. If someone wants, or needs, to drop a trip for personal reasons, one should be allowed to do so. And if a fellow colleague sees said trip and wants to pick it up, that person should be able to such. People complain about being on standby and wanting to fly, then they hear about other people receiving day off pay to fly, which is unfair.

I worked at Miami Air full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work! Got to travel the world with great people and meet a lot of amazing people. So much better than working for a commercial airline based on what I've gathered from friends that worked for American and United.

    Cons

Lots of travel all over the world, not just the United States. It's a small company which can lead to some "high school" drama between employees but still completely worth any little misunderstanding.

I have been working at Miami Air

    Pros

Love the diversity of customers and the commitment to service. If you are a crew member, you get a unique opportunity to go to places other airlines can't or won't go. As a staff member, you get diversified training because it is such a small airline.

    Cons

Company is small, limited growth. Limited opportunities to fly for free. Miami is expensive place to live/work. Pay could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be honest, Miami Air is a good place to work and get your feet wet in the airline industry. They are very flexible and you can learn a lot. The majors are what everyone is leaving for, if they do, and money/stability are the main reasons why. I'd wish the Management would pay the staff employees better though, as most of them are crew member qualified as well.

    I worked at Miami Air

    Pros

Had the opportunity to cycle through many different departments. This internship is worthwhile for anyone who is interested in getting into the Airline industry.

    Cons

The only thing I can think of a downside is the fact that you don't get enough time to get involved in one department. They usually cycle the intern every two weeks. Beware some departments are unprepared for the intern and boring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a little bit more prepared for the intern when going through each department. Besides that I had a great time .
