Stay away if you are thinking of working here...

    Technician (Current Employee)

ProsGood tires, and decent health care benefits...

Cons...That are disappearing more every year, with no raise to compensate.

    Where to start...

No respect if you worked at Michelin for less than 5 years, straight up lies after you join the company in terms of career path, will move you to a new position with more responsibility and no compensation for the extra responsibility, if you try to make a difference in the job, you are shot down, and then 4 months later one of those who shot you down will take your idea as their own, no thought process when it comes to replacing retirees, very poor pay for the responsibility required, 60+ hour work weeks with no compensation time, will only pay education expenses at two Universities for Master's programs.

And the biggest issue: Michelin does not respect their own policies when it comes to "Respect for people." Everyone is supposedly an equal employee, but all young employees are held back by petty political drama by the managers. Top level management is actually pretty decent, but anything below that is a hodgepoge of unqualified managers that can't be leaders and manage their employees effectively...

Advice to Senior ManagementIt makes no sense how you cannot see why all your young new employees are leaving the company in droves, they are treated like they are idiots when they come in, and never "grow up" in the eyes of the company. It is really sad to see such talent leave the company, but without better compensation and challenges to your new employees, they will use you as a stepping stone only. Also, promote your hourly employees that have lots of experience, but don't give them a lower salary, it makes no sense!

Fantastic training by a world-class company that values its employees by giving them all the necessary tools to succeed.

AREA SALES MANAGER (Current Employee) Saint Louis, MO

ProsMichelin is a company that provides a great employment package including fantastic benefits, upward mobility and constant training to build your skill set.

ConsCorporate management sometimes has a hard time relating to real world, field-based situations. Things are different out in the field than they are in the office and viewing things from behind a desk sometimes doesn't translate to the person who directly experiences the situations.

    Industrial Engineer

Industrial Engineer (Former Employee) Anderson, SC

ProsVery good company to work for. Good culture and they have a high level of respect for their employees. Great opportunities to learn from an industry leader and they have excellent training programs.

ConsAdvancement through the company is a very slow process and take years to get to the level desired. The compensation is much the same and you can spend an entire career just to reach a 6 figure income.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company does a great job in training and preparing leaders to take the next role. They need to make this process faster for high potential employees or they will continue to lose them.

    Excellent Opportunities

Territory Manager (Current Employee) Greenville, SC

ProsExcellent Benefits programs and chances for advancement if willing to relocate and you work hard. They expect a lot and reward just the same.

ConsNot as in touch with needs of the employee and family as they claim to be. More to a job than just benefits and a steady paycheck.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at your open door policy and ensure employees can actually utilize the open door.

MICHELIN NA has a very rigid corporate structure with a lot of red tape!!

Territory Sales Manager (Former Employee) Greenville, SC

ProsGood pay, perks, & benefits..company car, fuel card, corporate credit card and good overall benefits like matching 401K, cell phone allowance, laptop & ipad provided for presentations

ConsAlot of talking behind your back and monitoring you and micromanagement, also NO COMMISSION offered for sales!! While the base salary is decent, the sales rep is missing alot of potential income by not being paid a commission per tire sold at any given customer location that they encourage to purchase MICHELIN Large Truck tires!

    Great Company

    Manager (Current Employee)

    Pros1. Secure stable career
    2. Respect for employees, the company deos the right thing more often than not
    3. Very good comraderie and work atmosphere
    4. Good long term career outlook due to large number of people near retirement age.
    5. Actually practices diverse hiring and promotion policies.

Cons1. If you dont like standardized processes this is not the company for you.
    2. Advancement will usually require frequent relocation. However the relo program is very generous.
    3. Pay for management level jobs likely below other industries. If you value stability over pay this will not be as important.

    Michelin America Small Tires

    AREA SALES MANAGER (Current Employee)

ProsGreat benefits. Outstanding corporate leadership. Excellent perks above and beyond salary. This is a great company.

ConsUpward mobility is limited. This is a manufacturing and R&D company. Sales is a by product of their excellent standards. It's not very rewarding being an order taker.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you build more, you will sell more! Fill the orders for incremental growth.
