I worked at Micro Focus as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Interesting work and good office environment. It's an organisation full of talented people. It's a high performance environment and a highly competitive place.

    Cons

Knee jerk attitude of management and the inability of management to make good long term investment to prove management practices. Year end layoffs is the norm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be more proactive and take a medium to long term view of their decisions.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Micro Focus full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people on the ground - hard working and dedicated. Good benefits in the UK. Company supplies free drinks including fizzy ones!

    Cons

In some areas of the business (mostly IT and development) employees seem to be happy in their jobs, but it's sad to say that it's not the case in all areas.

    Main issues:
    - Ineffectual and arrogant middle and senior management.
    - Lack of communication.
    - Lack of listening.
    - Lack of respect for their staff's skills and knowledge.
    - Continuous and tiresome politics.
    - No promotion prospects.
    - Few payrises.
    - No training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the poor managers. Care about your employees.
