I have been working at MicroTech

    Pros

This is an amazing company that is better positioned to win big contracts today than any other time before.

    Cons

People who can't keep up or who want to come in and tread water are weeded out quickly. Most will blame everyone except themselves! Are things perfect - No, but they are better than the five other places I have worked!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let the haters ruin the great things you are doing! Keep doing what you are doing and eventually they will get tired of throwing mud!

I worked at MicroTech full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Marketing does a good job of promoting the company on the internet, with social media, and in advertising. The company used to have a great reputation which still carries some weight around town.

    Cons

It's a chop shop - no training on the products actually available for sale, tons of vaporware to sell, no training on internal systems or processes, constant re-orgs, and sudden disappearances. And then there's the incessant promotion of CEO "Tony". Very difficult work environment.

I have been working at MicroTech full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

None. Don't have much positive things to say about this company. Most of the regular employees are pretty young and cool.

    Cons

Every day you fill like a piece of meat waiting to be thrown to the lions from the ceo's exec cohort.

    Cons

Lots of competitors use websites and surveys to slam MicroTech and other the impression it less than excellent! Been so good for so long it attracts haters!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at MicroTech full-time

    Pros

It's a job, if you can drink koolaid and ignore what is going on...then it is great.

    Cons

The company is more concerned about stroking the egos of senior management than actually taking care of it's employees. I have seen on here where a SVP from MicroTech says their pay is great.....it is only great for SVP. The rest of the employees are treated as just a body to keep a contract...there's not investment in staff and when they lose a contract...they just fire everyone on it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps actually care about all your employees instead of being self centered. If it was not for the 8A status they had....they would not be a company in the real world.

I worked at MicroTech full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Many government contract vehicles.
There are good people still left.

    Cons

No raises in the last couple of years. Shrinking company, used to be several times it's current size. Now they are selling pieces of the company off. Legal troubles, public relations troubles, morale issues, owner issues, the list is very long. Too many get rich quick schemes trying to chase the next big thing, not enough attention paid to the core business that made money.

I have been working at MicroTech full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers (for the most part) were cool. Lots of free food, great office location and space.

    Cons

Low salaries, no room for advancement unless you were ditzy and blond.

I worked at MicroTech full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Hands off management. Regular work. Good partners and projects. Was not at HQ, so partner office and people were great. Hires range from mediocre to great due to project lacking complexity. Great benefits and people that I have dealt with were good.

    Cons

Work is project-based and there is no guarantee of a job after the project is done. Personal growth is your responsibility. They encourage certification but mostly to maintain their Microsoft Gold Partner rating. If you're not at HQ, you don't really hear from anyone.

    Pros

The benefits are great, the people really care, great comradery, and fabulous work ethic.

    Cons

The constant attacks by the press. Success for companies in the Government space is always looked at negatively and when you figure out how to keep the most difficult customer in the world happy you draw attention. That is our down fall! We are good and we know it - hate us!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop moving the line to accommodate those who fall below it. You have some of the best people in the industry if the others can't keep up don't water down the wine. It's time for them to go.
