    • Lack of integrity
    • Broken salary promise of 5% raise
    • Layoff prior to stocks maturity in order not to pay
    • Management unethical behavior

    Advice to Management

Release all Senior Vice Presidents (VPs), VPs, Directors and Senior Managers and start with a culture where integrity is the measure to the company success.

    Pros

    Interesting product line
Most workers are great to work with and are talented
    Nice diversity in products
They have a TV in the cafeteria

    Cons

They are just an acquisition company looking for todays' dollar with no planning for the future.
Upper management can't manage the finances so they cheat the books and proclaim financial goals not reached to eliminate all bonuses to all workers. Now the lawyers are involved.
Upper management are a bunch of jokers with no class or professionalism, good old boys club can't be touched.
Constant plant shutdowns because they can't make the numbers work so they make you use all your vacation when they want and not when you want. Policy is 2 weeks vacation if hired but they make you take 3 weeks off for plant shutdowns. How is that even possible, you can borrow vacation until next year, rinse and repeat.
Newly hired mid management come from notorious horrible management failed companies.

    Advice to Management

Value the employee's voice and correct management style to obtain morale back.
Give proper reviews with pay raises.
Fire all upper management and replace with innovative trustworthy people.

    Pros

Most of the people are good, it's a big company so you don't have to deal with upper management much

    Cons

Underpaid; their goals arent realistic, they don't treat their employees well. Unappreciative. Overtime is expected. HR pretty much doesn't exist. You'll only move up if you're willing to sell your soul

    Advice to Management

    Quit

    Pros

    Just opinions:

-Access to a lot of technology, hardware and people
    -Lots of equipment.
    -Lots of things to learn
-Military parts and contracts are very profitable.
    -Huge company.
    -OK benefits
-Pretty good at acquisitions from an execution point of view.
-Your time and seniority counts even if you are acquired.
-Shutdown during the end of the year
    -Company events are good
    -There is nice people around.
    -Good work and balance
-If you like military contractors, then it would be a great fit.

    Cons

Just opinions, nothing is stated as facts:

-Very low integration of all the companies they acquired.
    -Very low 401K matching
    -Very low educational opportunities
-Does not seem to be much organic growth, they seem to grow by acquisition.
-Acquisition will be fast once they show at the door (first 24hrs.), a bit draconian for employees (following 24hrs).
-If you survive there will be an offer on a table (nothing more, nothing less) along with the offers of your fellow survivors. Everybody will be in a room and on the same boat.
-Engineering does not seem to be fully appreciated.
-The only reasonable way around would be to be part of upper management and make sure the company is profitable at the moment of the acquisition.
    - Kind of hard to achieve a 65% return on investment, not applicable to all markets.
-HR seems quite aggressive, any comment not praising the company likely to be considered hostile.
-Most extra benefits are not pro-rated, either you stay the whole fiscal year or you get nothing.
-IT seems also very control oriented.
-If you report to the Canadian side, does not seem to be flexible. Reports every week on how projects are going.
-Budget seems to be tightly controlled, everything likely to be seen as an expense rather than an investment.
-Sort of hard to figure out accounting when every check comes with the name of a different company rather than Microsemi.
    - Keeping motivated is a bit problematic when higher up management does not stand up for the people that work below them.

    Advice to Management

-Value your engineers and key contributors more during acquisitions.
-Not everything that happened was due to higher ups.
-Find a way of retaining technical people.
-Flexible IT works better for design engineers.
-Not all markets have a 65% ROI
-Learn a bit from other companies that buy companies.
-Understandable that you need you reduce head count, but there are better and gradual ways of dealing with it.
-Morale is usually way down during acquisitions.
-Avoiding making waves, not standing up for people and doing bad hiring decisions are easy ways to lose good contributors.

    Pros

Good work-life balance, meritocracy, compensation is good (when the company does well). The company is many ways still resembles a start-up in its nimbleness, but with the advantages of the much larger company it is,

    Cons

Some of the systems received from several acquisitions could be merged faster, to increase agility.

    Advice to Management

    Execute on plans

    Pros

My group worked 24 hours several days to meet a management deadline, not the customers! We also worked through holidays.

    Cons

We all were laid off and we all got better jobs.

    Advice to Management

    Doesn't matter, they won't listen!

    Pros

The best thing is the people.
Friendly atmosphere and a lot of company events.
    Good benefits.
Plenty of overtime if you wanted.

    Cons

Plenty of overtime you don't want.
Dated machines that fail constantly, causing unreasonable seven day a week, mandatory over time for several weeks at a time.
    No recognition for hard work.
Forced to use vacation during holiday shutdowns.
Congratulated at company meeting for meeting quarterly and yearly goals met and then having our annual raises put off for year and a half while management received bonuses.
A lot of politics. If you know someone or related to management, you move up. If you don't, it doesn't matter how much more productive you are. (Example: three promotions in five years for one managers family member).
I've seen some of the most unproductive, do nothing, sit around talking people, get promoted.

    Advice to Management

Consider having one on one with employee's with complete amnesty
