The working environment was decent although the students are not very strong. The faculty are generally friendly.

ProsThe demand isn't very high on faculty members; correspondingly, the pay isn't very high. Middlesex CC is a decent place for low stress work.

ConsThe pay is relatively low, the students are generally poor, there is little freedom in selecting texts, sometimes hiring is driven more by diversity than quality.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to be more innovative in allowing different teaching techniques.

Place is for education but...in maintenance you work for the uneducated

Facilities (All) (Current Employee)

I have been working at Middlesex County College full-time for more than 10 years

ProsOverall it is an excellent place to work and highly recommended. Growth is limited to retirement openings.

ConsManagement style - Dictatorship. Be prepared to work for incompetent management. Once you realize the level and depth, you can laugh and the job will become more satisfactory. Management allows for very little input from workers; often suggestions to improve performance and savings are ignored.

Advice to Senior ManagementReceive some proper management training and training in the field you are already supposed to know. Things change in 20 years...Learn how to hire a diverse workforce and listen to their suggestions.
