  1.

I worked at Middlesex University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

friendly staffs, numerous opportunities, diverse groups to work with, opportunity to work while studying, wonderful chance to interact with children, an opportunity to support community by motivating the children to study further

    Cons

I didn't see any such cons while working with mdx. But it would have been wonderful, if i could have got chance to work more with the organization

I worked at Middlesex University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - The annual leave allowance (allowing you to not actually be there for a good proportion of the year, so you can regain your sanity)

    Cons

    - Decisions made on basis of whoever shouts the loudest
    - Short-term knee jerk actions favoured over long-term strategic planning
    - Academic employees' superiority complex
    - Hostile inter-departmental relations (demands issued instead of discussion, debate)
    - Poor working environment (offices)
    - Inability to do the basics well (employee systems, policies, processes)
    - Lack of robust performance management/reward policies
    - All non academic roles viewed as "administrative services" - not experts/specialist
    - Lack of commercial awareness among employees
    - Siloed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at how other organisations attract, retain and develop their employees. Middlesex has a long, long way to go.

    I worked at Middlesex University

    Pros

It gave me the opportunity to interact with other students from different cultures and help them work through their struggles at university.

    Cons

With the heavy work load of being in your final year and working as a student learning assistant, it can become difficult to prioritise your own work above those of the student you are helping

    Pros

Some good students and creative staff.

    Cons

Uni management. uncertain future vision. Fine words but little substance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't focus on short term gain but speculate on a unique and aspirational long term vision in a fast shifting higher education Landscape.
