All of the bad apples are out, and the new team is killing it!

I have been working at Midwest Consulting Group full-time

    Pros

The new team is fantastic. Everyone is excited to show up to work everyday and be a part of the new, refreshing, growth-oriented demeanor of the entire group. The tools for success are provided for you and if you are able to learn and have a solid work ethic, you can succeed with virtually no experience. Take it from our recent addition who has found success and had their first placement only 6 weeks removed from college with no IT or recruiting experience. We have new job reqs coming in everyday and have broken 2 accounts in the last 2 weeks that have provided almost 50 new opportunities.

    Cons

Things have done a 180 from where we were a year or two ago. The sales people and leaders that had tried to use alcohol or sex for their advancement have left on their own or been asked to leave once their motives were exposed. Having ownership and leadership consolidated to one man with a bright vision for the future of this company has been huge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to promote and enable the success around the office. Don't let those that road your coattails for their entire career try to bring down your success and progress towards your goals.

You will have no success at MCG.

    Pros

I gained nothing from working there.

    Cons

There is no true management team; this office is run by a dictator that doesn't care about anyone else but himself. Have a concern or problem? Too bad. You have no one to go to because there is no true HR department. This is the most corrupt Human Resources department I've ever seen. No one is held accountable for their actions. Advice: boozing up the clients and advertising to job candidates that the client they're interviewing for loves to party isn't the best form of business. You can offend a lot of people in the professional world.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acknowledge your reviews! It's time to stop denying that there's a problem, and open your eyes. EVERY employee that has walked out of that door in the past year has left on bad terms. If you want this company to succeed, you MUST change your business tactics and ethics.

Advice for the owner: instead of worrying about your donuts every Monday and bagels every Thursday, focus on what your employees want and need. THEY are the ones that are making YOU money. YOU are the reason this company is crumbling.

    Corruption, greed and instability

I worked at Midwest Consulting Group

    Pros

You never know what is going to come out of the owners mouth on a day to day basis. Never knowing who is going to be fired next will keep you on your toes.

    Cons

Working there is like having a target on your back and the size is determined by how well you play the game. Going to the office is like Hunger Games, everyone for themselves with no sense of team. Sales people are not encouraged to go out and sell, they are constantly in the office, so MCG has the same stale jobs that most everyone else in Kansas City has.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Require sales to go out and sell, build relationships ethically rather than using sex and booze. The owner should not have let go the people around him go that have business sense, now he has no one to save him from himself.

    Pros

There are two doors to exit the building.

    Cons

80% of the staff has turned over in 6 months. The company is poorly ran and the minute you walk in the door there will be a target on your back.

    Donuts on Mondays

    Cons

    Terrible Leadership
    Instability
    Hostile work environment
    No real HR

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Huge turn over in the last 6 months. HR is corrupt, as well as the rest of the "Leadership" team. Look at your leaders! There lies your problem.the only positive thing about working at Midwest Consulting Group, was the donuts on Mondays and the bagels on Thursdays.

I have been working at Midwest Consulting Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I have been with Midwest Consulting Group (MCG) for 15+ years and know the two owners personally. They believe that for their company to be successful, they need happy and productive employees. Exciting projects and competitive salaries are only the beginning on how they accomplish this.

    Cons

At this time, I don't really have any feedback on cons. I am happy and have been happy working for MCG for a really long time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Midwest Consulting Group as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

The firm seemed friendly enough at first.

    Cons

The Account Managers quickly are seen for what they are --- greedy. They are not interested in you as a consultant. They are interested in the account. It would behoove them to understand that a happy consultant makes for a happy client.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build incentives for Account Managers on revenue and satisfaction scores from clients BUT also integrate satisfaction scores from Consultants. MCG is becoming a boiler room-type consultancy with a rotating door.

I worked at Midwest Consulting Group

    Pros

    - Interested in hearing frequent feedback on project issues
    - Arranged lunch and happy hours with team and were not hesitant of inviting people outside the team
    - Very thorough and prompt in setting up bi-weekly pay deposits
    - Showed great effort and enthusiasm in placement after the project was completed
    - Showed professionalism in respecting my privacy regarding salary history

    Cons

    - Required signing a 1-year non-compete clause, which in my opinion is excessive.
    - Did not always understand the technical obstacles the team was facing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revisit your non-compete clause, which is much longer than other staffing agencies and may not be enforceable in Texas.
