Former Employee – worked at Midwest Manufacturing full-time for more than a year
Pros – There is plenty of work to be done, rarely is a day boring. People are generally pleasant to work with despite there being stressful situations.
Cons – Completely unrealistic expectations given the EXTREMELY low wage. Walking to plants and flying on propeller planes is definitely not enjoyable. High stress situations when plants are down.
Advice to Senior Management – Find a way to raise wages, work smarter not harder by using technology to repair plants when possible rather than physical trips.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Midwest Manufacturing full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Owner Operator of tractor and notch trailers jobsite and store deliveries. Dealing with the customers. I load and unlaod my own trailers.
Cons – Yard horses when loading my trailers have done damage to my trailers, and do not pay for it. Also when laoding they have broken trusses, and do not fix there mistakes.
Advice to Senior Management – Get to know logistics.

Current Employee – been working at Midwest Manufacturing full-time for more than a year
Pros – Flexible hours, Good Co-Workers, Ability to Work Independently and in teams
Cons – Lack of Planning/Design, Frequent scope changes, not involving correct people, Too much management/micro-managing, high turnover, low beginning pay(receiving fairly large raise after high turnover rate continued)
Advice to Senior Management – Get the most knowledgeable people's input on the subject instead of relying on out of touch management to "guess" what is right. Management seems to love micromanaging the must mundane small tasks.

Former Employee – worked at Midwest Manufacturing
Pros – pay
play with power tools
cruise around on forklifts
can get away with a lot, usually
could be worse, i guess
Cons – blatant ignorance toward any issue of any substance
ignoring serious safety issues even after when brought to light over and over
zero management skills
no respect or care for employees
and much more
Advice to Senior Management – my assistant manager was not a manager but more of a glorified ornery maintenance man
actually seek some sort of business or management education

Current Employee – been working at Midwest Manufacturing full-time for more than a year
Pros – Gained title as plant controller
Was able to take time off whenever I wanted to
Cons – Minimum wage for a college educated individual
Zero respect from anyone within the company
Benefits are subpar
Lack of care for the safety of their employees, OSHA would have a field day in one of their plants
Advice to Senior Management – Treat your employees better with actual pay and benefits that reflect their position. Grow a backbone and get rid of the dead weight employees. Bring some pride back to Made in the USA.

Current Employee – been working at Midwest Manufacturing
Pros – Controllers are able to work without a whole lot of supervision. This can be good or bad. Sometimes it can be difficult to get questions answered.
Cons – Benefits are poor. Vacation is blacked out some months. Also, they don't offer a 401k with contribution matching. Work life balance could be improved.
Advice to Senior Management – Too many levels of management. Long hours required can lead to employees getting burnt out. Improved training programs for new hires.

Current Employee – been working at Midwest Manufacturing
Pros – steady work
work experience dealing with all aspects of the plant for office workers and MTs
Cons – vacation policy is terrible. You might not be able to take a vacation during a certain "black out period" even if family member passes away. Compensation is TERRIBLE compared to similar jobs at other companies. Health benefits are extremely costly with poor actual benefits. Does not value education. Management will often question your motives if you seek higher education. Work/Life balance is horrid, which is ironic considering it is in their Mission and Values "9-block."
DO NOT WORK HERE.
Advice to Senior Management – Better benefits. Put a little more into the work/life aspect of your employees. Update the pay scale to modern times. Value higher education more.

Former Employee – worked at Midwest Manufacturing
Pros – Great oppurtunity to develop skills in a manufacturing / warehousing environment.
Profit sharing pays off if you stay there long enough
Cons – It can get old after a while if you do not like working in a warehouse.
Advice to Senior Management – Try to reduce turnover and create a more interactive team work place. The break rooms could be imporved with more room, and maybe a cafiteria as well.
