    I worked at Mike's Hard Lemonade full-time

    Pros

Benefits are good, don't have to pay for them

    Cons

You know your job isn't safe you could be let go any day for no reason... just ask HR if you interview here, the turnover is so high no matter if your in sales, marketing, any division. The owner of the business thinks he is a marketing genius and ignores any data they get, any information or leadership from people who were hired to do that (like the many CMOs and CEOs who have been there for the past couple of years). The new CEO Phil Rosse tried to shield employees from that better than previous CEOs but they all end up just being Anthony's mouthpiece and internal publicist, spinning stories to employees about why we're going the total opposite direction from a business standpoint that data and experts indicate.

I agree with the post about the recent positive reviews being faked by HR. They sound like HR mumbo jumbo, not what real people actually think. If you read them knowing that, you can see how they actually back up all the real posts on here

If you want to get hired for a job where you'll be spinning your wheels the whole time and not allowed to do your job, this is the place for you.

I have been working at Mike's Hard Lemonade

    Pros

One of the few consistently growing companies within the beer industry. With rapid industry consolidation and volume declines in the beer industry, quarterly profits can rule the day in most companies. Mike's is all about building brands and innovating for real growth. That's a great place to be for people that want a fast paced, rewarding career where they make real impact. The majority of employees are highly engaged and committed.

    Cons

Keep communicating to people why change is constant and necessary in business. There will always be people in a company that disagree with decisions and choose to "check the box" vs. leave on their own. Keep challenging those people to step up or step out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep going in the direction that you have been going - this company continues to make the right decisions. Tough decision are never easy but most people understand they are often necessary to keep evolving with the business market and building for growth

I have been working at Mike's Hard Lemonade full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are actually pretty good but thats as far as it goes.

    Cons

Company used to be the leader in the industry and still thinks that they are, when in reality they are extremely nervous about consistently losing ground to the big players (AB & MC). Now, all they do is being reactive and produce innovations only to keep up with the big guys. Key word here is "fail fast" and ironically that's what has been happening for a while now (people and innovation wise). Turnover is insane! No stability and every week someone new is putting in a two-week notice or disappearing without anyone knowing until it becomes obvious that they have been fired. The same four people get promoted over an over and marketing has zero impact on any marketing decisions. They are just a bunch of puppets on strings that have been hired to execute owners’ plan and are not appreciated when they actually provide real marketing solutions. The owner is a control freak that is single handedly holding the company down. I have seen 1 CEO, and 2 CMO’s couple of VP's quit because the owner would not allow them to do their jobs. The strategy is completely off balance because the decision makers are all owners’ friends/contractors who have no skin in the game aside from pushing new innovations through because that’s how they get paid. More innovations = more money. Stay away from this place. You are looking at a sinking ship!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate the people while they are here and not just when they tell you they are leaving. Lemon mail (grade school style recognition note) is not it!

I have been working at Mike's Hard Lemonade full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Creative, aggressive environment filled with great people. We set record setting goals and consistently hit them. If you want to be a part of a growing company committed to results but equally committed to "the how", AND in the alcoholic bev business, Mike's is for you!

    Cons

It's a smaller company privately owned by one individual. Some find that stressful, others like myself adapt and embrace. We have an unlimited opportunity to do our job and to it well here at mike's while working with great people, friends for life in some cases. If that isn't what you've signed up for in a company, then mike's isn't for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep delivering results and instilling a great culture. Phil Rosse is a true talent and will lead this team to places we've not been before, both on the results side as well as making this a great place to work.

I have been working at Mike's Hard Lemonade full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

What matters the most at the end of the day is that you are focused on driving the business forward in the RIGHT way. There is a lot of autonomy for people out in the field that ultimately have to drive the results with regards to shipments to wholesalers or authorizations to National Accounts.

The "How" with mike's is critical. While we are a quirky company at times, it is what makes our culture unique, and it requires flexibility and adaptability. What drives me now is to see the progress being made to ensure that not only is the "How" focused on up front in people development, but the fact that this is being embodied with our new senior leaders.

With every move that has been made of late, there are senior leaders in place that people want to work for, and that creates a very strong unified base to accomplish any task.

Product Quality and Superiority, quite simply it is fun to sell the best product.

    Cons

Over the years, there seems to be consistent turn-over in the brand department. While there has been relative consistency in the field sales organization, there is a halo of concern that emits from the office with any changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on the What and the How, and coach people on how to improve both if they are lacking. It takes some time to understand the mike's Culture, and once people buy-in they are committed - help them bridge from their former experiences and become true ambassadors for mike's.

I have been working at Mike's Hard Lemonade full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Committed to making the best products possible everyday. People are generally committed and there has been a big shift to a "promote from within" mentality. Executive leadership team is now solid and providing clear direction especially since new president entered the business who is known to be aligned to the founder in Canada.

    Cons

When the company recruits from the outside vs. promoting from the inside, it seems that the track record of success especially at the senior levels is hit or miss. External hires that struggle with the culture or the owner can cause momentum to be stalled in that department until they leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep focusing on people and communicating the direction, the values and the goals of the company both short term and long term. Make good business decisions with the external market top of mind and stick around!!
