    Pros

    The culture is one of a close family. Many of us have worked together for many years. There is mutual understanding and respect with the desire to grow the business. The team is very experienced and driven and has a high commitment to customer satisfaction.

    Cons

    Like a close family, we need to cut each other some slack occasionally.

    Keep the communication flowing and sharing of financial information.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    CEO & CFO should not be running operations for Furniture installation, is that not what you hire Managers for? You reward and grant favors to the people who are always inept, and cannot do their job. Plantation Style ran business, look at the diversity.

    Pros

    Paid vacation and holidays is a plus.
    Steady work.

    Cons

    Staff has low expectations of thier employees and dont strive to build a stronger work environment. Theres no incentives for the employees that actually work. This makes it difficult and the next mans work load stressful. Theres no room for advancement within this company, so make sure you absolutely love what you do.... you will be doing it for awhile.... you might even have to beg for a raise!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat employees as equals. Favoritism is no way to run a professional business. Give credit where credit is due, its important and takes very little effort on managements part to let your employees know they are important and each as an individual play a role in building a successful healthy business. Seniority should matter.

    Pros

    Overall great Atmosphere
    Great Products and Services
    Everyone is dedicated and does what it takes to get the job done well
    Pride in work
    Great Customer Service
    Relatively flexible hours and allows employees to have balance with family and work.
    ESOP benefits not many other companies can provide. Employees get company shares contributed annually.
    Open book and open door policies
    Monthly company meetings
    Various charity events that engages both employees and benefits the community
    When business is good, employees have had it great!
    Management listens to employees seems to make changes when all things are considered and are reasonable.
    All levels of employees from installers to management work hard to keep the business going
    Management is dedicated to make profits, give bonuses, and drive share values even through significantly reduced revenues.
    Even with the cuts the company has had to endure, benefits still remain higher than most companies and competitors in similar position.
    Staple of company remains intact while competitors are down only a handful of employees with up to50% reduction in pay.
    Work share program to preserve as many jobs as possible.

    Cons

    Currently in survival mode so management has had to make many difficult cuts in order to stay competitive for the customers and profitable for the company.
    Some employees don't seem to understand the cuts because it has impacted them directly in workload and benefits. This causes negativity in the workplace.
    Salary increases has stopped since the downturn of the economy when increases were steady annually prior to that.
    ESOP share values have decreased over the last 2 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Most of us still remember the great times, generous bonuses and annual increases when the company was doing great. Keep doing what you have to do to get everyone back to those times.
    Don't let other former disgruntle employees get to you and most of us still believe things will bounce back and employees will be rewarded for the dedication and hard work we are putting in.
    More communication to all employees, including the hard to reach and out on the field installers.

    good product
    strong design and support team

    Cons

    poor management from the top
    no raises in several years
    always blaming others for lack of business
    cancerous employees are still employeed even though they are one of the biggest detriment to the company/reputation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    new leadership
    CEO needs to do CEO's job
    stop laying off the good sales support people and let go of the people/person that brings negative energy to the workplace day in and day out.

    Pros

    Great everyday environment to work with a lot of interaction with colleagues.
    Community services is second to none for the industry.
    Benefits are decent, but could be better.
    Office furniture for employees is top class.
    Little overtime hours required.
    Semi open book policy with employees.
    Employee Owned with enrollment into plan after 2nd full year.

    Cons

    Poor management.
    CEO favors sales staff too much.
    Management plays favoritism.
    Always increasing workload with no compensation increase.
    Employees with favoritism often complain to management and always get their way.
    Employees are valued with praise, but not in their checkbooks.
    Employees that do not bend to the complaints and habits of sales staff are often terminated.
    Employee suggestions for business are rarely considered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Advice to Board: rebuild management team with members with more experience in the field and with more business knowledge to keep the company in the black.
    Listen to your peers and respect the opinions of your employees. Your idea isn't always the best and isn't always the most well received. Listen to the teams more and let them make some decisions.
    You DO NOT know it all.
    Don't play favorites.
    If the company hasn't been doing well for the past 3 years, then re-evaluate the sales team, not the support staff.
    Give raises; something small is better than none.
    Expand your market.
    Bring back free break room amenities so the employees feel like they at least get something every day.
    Only so much can be blamed on the economy; it is time to start rethinking from the top.

    A complete restructuring from the top down would serve to better this firm going forward. Take emotion out of decision making and base them off of facts and realty.
