    Not so good!

Technical Artist (Former Employee) Milan (Italy)

ProsThe team is made by very talented and funny people.

ConsThe down side is that they are ruled by some morons which makes you work for very long hours (not payed, and if you do less than 8 hours they take you the money), for not so good project! It's not a good place to start your carrer because most of the stuff is made by outsourcer, so you have to deal with a lot of excel stuff!

Advice to Senior ManagementAs stated before, the team is really talented, if you make them do their job with some good tools and with no short schedule you could make really good games! Raise the salary and pay extra hours will make the employer happy (not stealing if you do 7.59 hours)

A big company with big problems

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe biggest video game company in Italy, some talented people to learn from and grow up as a professional and get into the industry.

ConsWorking constantly overloaded and in a stresses environment. The stressful situation lead to tense relations between department and people. No time to working properly on anything due to an insane scheduling which aims just to release in a fixed amount of time a product which ends to be always rough and without personality.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement don't care about people and don't care about any suggestion by any people involved in the working pipeline. They only want to renew an existing licence to then tweak the previous game in a new one.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    Pros-friendly people
    - real videogame passion
    - talented people

    Cons- really bad management
    - super tight schedule
    - The only REAL objective is to make a lot of games instead of a good one
    - talented people working on bad things with bad tools

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider making less games to focus all team on a single, VERY GOOD one

    Bad management at its finest

    Programmer (Former Employee) Milan (Italy)

Pros- The only AAA videogame company in italy
    - Friendly people

Cons- Bad management, no long-term plans, focused only on schedules
    - Messy work pipeline, no design documents, bad tasks allocation, bad work tools
    - Bad resources management, waste of talents, unefficient middle managers
    - No time given to developers to polish\improve technology, no R&D

Advice to Senior Management- Create long-term plans
    - Improve base technology instead of running from one title to the next one
    - Improve work pipeline with help of integration tools
    - Hire real managers

    Stressfull but interesting

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Milan (Italy)

ProsNice colleagues, wide range of choices, high impact on the final product even if you're only in a junior position. Payment always on time.

ConsBad organization, time spans for game production are too short, focus is not on quality but on being on time. Internal tools are bugged and not human friendly. Milan is expensive.

Advice to Senior Management1 high quality title a year is better than 3 mediocre. Check the market, hire people that know and are fond of videogames.

    Passionate, talented resources, bad management

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Milan (Italy)

ProsHistory, culture and inheritance of the early years
Some very passionate and talented professionals (esp. designers/programmers/artists)
Informal - somehow friendly - climate
Useful as short-term introduction in the industry

    ConsRelative workplace instability
    >40% staff covered by project/temporary contract, key people included
Salaries lower than both market average and country average
Management: company managed by technicians, not by management
No "pure" managers, only technical, industry professionals, internally promoted
Top Management (GM) massively micromanaging resources
Middle Management: culture based on "hazing", high difficulty to contradict, poor opennes
Middle Management selected more by personal relationship than management skills
    Poor resource development, wasted talents
    Poor motivation
    Very poor, shortsighted investment strategies
    Pathological schedule crushing
Confused product strategies, Only short-term profit oriented vs long-term development cycle mk

Advice to Senior Management1) Put in Top Management a pure manager, with management school/experience
    2) Develop Resources: dedicated performance reviews, set goals, provide feedbacks, promote the right people, motivate
    3) Invest (in technology above all)

Nice place, nice people, messy management.

3D Artist - Generalis (Former Employee) Milan (Italy)

ProsItalians are fun to work with, they pay (employees) on time.

ConsThey say Italians are terrible managers, and you can see that in Milestone. People do avoid taking responsibility, tasks can pingpong until they arrive to someone that can actually do it. There are much more middle managers than needed to run a company.

Advice to Senior ManagementSell your games in the US.
