Current Employee – been working at Millipore full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Depending on your group you can spend a good bit of time doing research that interests you that may not have immediate impact on the company's bottom-line. Excellent resources world-wide with many experts available.
Cons – Bureaucracy begets bureaucracy. With Merck the process is most important, doing quality work while being frugal is less so. They let you spend the money you need to spend and more as long as you follow the steps. They are also getting a little short-sided in projects.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more open to projects that you don't expect to become a product immediately. Just because marketing thinks it should or shouldn't be done should not be the only deciding factor when funding a project. Sometimes it takes time to "find" the best approach and short-sided thinking doesn't help that process.

Former Employee – worked at Millipore full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Millipore has had a long standing reputation as a leader in the Life Sciences and Biotech tools industry with brand recognition founded on superior product quality and unmatched customer experience. Innovation and professional development were once among the hallmarks of its sucess.
Cons – Under new management, Millipore has become internally focused on meeting the outdated needs of its parent company's struggling pharmaceutical division at the expense of its once unrivalled market focus. Innovation and career development are almost non-exisitent today and likely soon to disappear altogether.
Advice to Senior Management – Seek continual feedback from employees without repercussions and seriously consider making changes that recoup the value of the inordinate price that Merck KGaA paid for Millipore.
