    Pros

Pretty good family benefit package and the bonuses and compensation packages were good Lap top computers with second large screen and company phone

    Cons

Leadership, Top Heavy, promotions, perks, Whatever union agreed to in their yearly discussions with management regards to benefits, time off, holidays non-union salaried had to folow

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

salaried personnel shouldn't have to follow union, non-salaried, agreements. better time off policy, more holidays time off at least better decision on which days.Every other week Fridays off. Worry about experience of employees instead of laying off because of compensation.

    Pros

Hours are regular with weekends off and the pay to start is great. Benefits are pretty good as well.

    Cons

The company is very top heavy with many bloated salaries of upper management that the company could do without. There is a massive disconnect between upper management and the regular employees. There is also very little room for advancement in the company as a sales rep unless you want to get into the field which very few of us wanted to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer better leadership on advancement within the company.

    Pros

Good pay. Decent benefits. Great place to start after school, make some money, get some experience, and move on. There are a few good people that work for this company.

    Cons

Very top heavy with management. Management in place usually has no experience in field or work, however are experts on the subject. Extremely micro managed. Nobody is allowed to do their job without being constantly spied on. Just like working in a snake pit. You never know who is gunning for you. Just about impossible to advance. Good old boy system very much in effect. Issues and concerns even safety related are not addressed properly. You are expected to take up the slack for managements inabilities to do their job. Example: A project has a deadline to be completed, management has not scheduled correctly, or has failed to get materials needed, or has failed to appropriate correct amount of man power, you are going to be expected to make up the difference and get the project done on time. If it isn't, your at fault.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house. Your business would be much more efficient without these cancerous people in place.

    Pros

Compensation is decent to start depending on your job title. After that, don't expect much in the way of incentive or merit increases.

    Cons

No room for advancement. Very poor communication between departments through management. Limited holiday time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communication between management and employees. Show interest in employee development, ideas and job satisfaction. Improve antiquated computer system and company policies. Focus needed on professional communication intercompany and that does not include the free use of expletives.

    Pros

As a company MC is far from an industry leader, however, the products they sell are the leaders. 95% of the product line sells itself so it's a great place if you want to take orders from customers.

    Cons

Zero room for growth. Under no circumstances will they give you a raise based on tenure and/or performance. If you want a stepping stone right out of college then it's place is for you. If your looking for a long upward trending career this is not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set some goals for each rep based on territory yields. Use those goals to come up with a compensation structure that will reward over achievement and drive incremental revenue. This is something that every good sales driven company has. Lastly don't promote good sales reps to mgmt positions promote good leaders.

I have been working at Milton CAT full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Decent compensation, the company is a reputable Caterpillar dealer, business is strong and growing. There are some great people to work with and learn from.

    Cons

Communication is poor, employee turnover is high, many jobs don't pay what they should, and an overall unpleasant work environment. There are people in management roles that aren't fit for leadership, lack of structured training, and no open door policy. Doing things right one day, then days/weeks later find out they should have been done differently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more willing to communicate with your employees, create incentives and opportunities to improve morale because it needs it badly and you have employees that deserve better treatment. Are there opportunities for growth within the company? Yearly job fairs could help employees understand what others in the company do and also become aware of the many opportunities there are to move up in the company, if there are any.

    Pros

Working for the industry leader has its advantages and burdens. Company is well financed and positioned for growth. Should punish some competitors who got too thin during this downturn.

    Cons

Change is a challenge; past success leads to caution. Communication from management to employees lacks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communicate ! What's the message?
