Good Place to work to pay your way through college

    Server Trainer (Former Employee)
    Ventura, CA

ProsFun People to work with- If you work hard you can make pretty good money.

ConsYou do not get recognition. Not that rewarding. There is usually a lot of B.S. that comes from corporate. They do not care about you at all only whether or not they make money.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees better, make them feel at home. Get employees involved in more fun activities.

    good company, slow to promote

    To-Go Hostess (Former Employee)
    Upland, CA

Prosthe people, management, decent food, employee discount, opportunity for growth, like the regional manager (Hermes), management is generally supportive of working around school schedules and long term goals, the regular customers can be pretty great and were a highlight of my day

Conslocation: they are slow often which leads to people being sent home and not making very much money.
When working to-go's, it is not uncommon to have customers come in and order very large catering orders with many modifications and no tip left.

Not impressed with this company or it's lack of moral values.

    Trainer, Server, Bartender (Former Employee)
    Allen, TX

ProsThe best reasons to work for this company are very few. But, there are a few just the same. The food is amazing for one. It's so full of flavor and beautifully displayed. The guests that dine here are loyal to no end. They support you no matter what.

ConsThe cons very much outweigh the pros. Poor management, upper as well as in house. Ownership has changed hands twice in less than a year, which means regrouping over and over again.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would give management this advice. Given that I am a trainer for my store, and I see and hear a lot of the management side of things. Micro management in my store is the worst I have ever experienced. They work you to death, you run short staffed all the time, you have to tip out everyone and their brother, for one reason or another. It's really a pathetic company. The way they treat their employees is a joke. It's sad really. They expect you to give them every second of your time. Be at their beck and call. Well, people have lives.

    Host

    Host (Former Employee)
    Sterling, VA

ProsThe people you work are the best part of this place. They are generous and honesty. Only reason I stayed so long was because of my work-team.

ConsManagement expects you to do more than what you do. Salary is not enough for all the work you do.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more gentle with employees and don't expect them to go over the line. Leadership should be way better.

    Not the original Mimi's Café!

    Manager (Current Employee)

ProsHaving two days off in a row and not working more than 50 hours a week.

ConsNOT the same original owners! Too much micro management! Too many poor changes leading to countless lost customers! I believe the company is going down! Nothing positive to say about the company any longer, especially about current Supervisors, District Operators or whatever they call themselves now...horrible!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want to turn Mimi's Café back into a profitable company, go back to it's original roots!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
