    Pros

Gain a lot of experience and responsibility very quickly. Many opportunities to prove yourself and to grow your career. It has a young, fun atmosphere, but can be intense during key seasons of planning.

    Cons

Typical of agencies -- pay is low and hours are high.

I have been working at MindShare North America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Management in the Insights department is awesome, and very supportive of cool ideas / innovative approaches.
Solid work/life balance, really good starting vacation package & benefits.
If you find the right group of people in Mindshare, you can have a great time and do some cool stuff with the "big" data they have access to.

    Cons

It's an agency, and comes with all the cons of agency life.
Pay scales are low - it's basically impossible to enjoy NYC on what they start people at.
The technology aspect of the business is really weak - both GroupM IT (very bad) and the internal development team (worse).
Senior management is a mixed bag, and very political. Part of the problem is that there are so many bosses - there's Mindshare NA, then Mindshare Global, then GroupM, and they all want a say in things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

High turnover is hurting the business - invest in the smart employees by either increasing the starting salary, speeding up the promotion schedule, or doing more with bonuses.

    Pros

There are a lot of great clients and great work being done. You can really learn a lot working here and you get to work in one of the most exciting parts of the industry.

    Cons

At times it seems like its difficult to get the resources and technology needed to complete a project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lean-in and see where the gaps and opportunities are....

I have been working at MindShare North America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

People are smart, dedicated, hard working

    Cons

RED TAPE, lack of management communication, resources are extremely limited

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the needs of the teams. Too much emphasis on cost cutting and making clients pay for everything. Clients expect certain leading edge services and not having them, nickel and diming clients, and the slow approval processes aggravate clients. Listen to the Client Leads who have the ears of those paying the bills.

I worked at MindShare North America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Learned a ton while I was there, spent time on a variety of clients and different disciplines.

    Cons

Dramatic (as most agencies are). Overworked employees are not happy employees - focus on quality of work over quantity of decks that can be thrown at a client.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick with a set of core values and talent management for more than a year - too much change means uncertainty amongst your employees.

I have been working at MindShare North America as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

It is a very young culture. Math and Computer Science are slowly becoming more prevalent in the field. Free Food!! There is lots of wining and dining here so that is a plus.

    Cons

The starting salaries are very low. Also there is a very high turnover rate with the employees. And they are getting rid of cubicles and putting up open seating which makes for a very cluttered, loud office.

I have been working at MindShare North America as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The atmosphere is definitely one of the best I've seen; everyone is very kind and helpful, and the people are great. The hours are also very reasonable, with free food constantly available due to client meetings. It is a paid internship, so it is definitely a plus, but not as high as other internships so it's a balancing act. If media and math are of your interests, then this is definitely an opportunity for you to exceed and gain experience..

The people setting up the internship along with the team that you are a part of (I was fortunate to get a really good and fun team) pretty much depict the type of summer you will have. I had an awesome experience and will definitely share with my friends and family.

Overall a great programmed geared toward math and marketing majors.

    Cons

The pay for after the internship is pretty low for the work that is done, but there is advancement and an ability to increase it as the work continues.

The work also gets a little boring during off times of the month when the reports have been submitted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to interact with the interns more, whether it is by going out to eat or just having a quick chat. It gives confidence and motivation to them that everyone is encouraging them to do the best they can, and the work that they do is of value and importance.
