    Pros

I absolutely loved that you have every opportunity and the assets provided if you ever wanted to advance within the company and within the field of non destructive testing. For the most part management and disciplinary issues were always dealt with in a very professional and fair manner which isn't very common in the oil refining industry.

    Cons

The only con was that the monstrous size of the company itself created a somewhat large gap between upper management and the technicians and assistants in the field so sometimes acknowledgment and advancement for jobs well done or promotions were delayed a bit, but even so it was a minor downside compared to the overall experience as a Mistras employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would recommend more frequent and deliberate reviews of employees and reward them accordingly!

    Pros

Mistras has many resources and are utilized for many projects. Great customer service and great employees. If you are going to learn more about the industry, there are experts that know what they are doing. Leader in advanced methods of Non-Destructive testing.

    Cons

Because it is so large, good people are sometimes overlooked. There is a lot of turnover to other smaller companies that do not have a Master Service Agreement with the customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be an incentive program set up for employees to apply for training. The city manager does not always follow through (or have the time to follow through) with getting everyone the training that is necessary. There are grumblings from GREAT not good employees that would further Mistras and bring more work to the company as a whole. The manager is not the one who keeps the work on site. Those people who do, need to know and feel that you are behind them. The more they know, the more business that can be brought to Mistras group. Think about a technician that can upsell the client on other NDT. NDT that they are not necessarily certified in.

Former Employee - Corporate Compliance Department in North Salt Lake, UT

    Pros

Worked with minimal oversight in job responsibilities
Good relationship and communication between departments

    Cons

    Very large organization.
For such a large organization, I believe that the Corporate Compliance Department where I worked should not have been reduced. If cost cutting was the reason, another less critical department should have been targeted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good job!

    Pros

You get sent out to the field relatively quick which is good for accumulating in the field hours.

    Cons

No protocol for pay raises, completely random and like pulling teeth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set standards for work experience and quality of work and time with company, this equals this pay, and this equals that pay, it should not be completely random.

    Pros

My personal manager is extremely laid back, as long as the job is done, he is satisified

    Cons

Very cliquish, good ole' boy club, if they "like you" you will go great and enjoy your job, If they don't..expect some pretty high turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not a lot of educated people working for this company; thus, professionalism is out of the window, some of our labs look like they are staffed with derelict, its embarrassing
