I have been working at Mitel Networks full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I've been at Mitel for 18 months and would not recommend working here to my worst enemy. I know of three good things: my paychecks don't bounce and my expenses are paid timely and work life balance is easy because there is no accountable for anyone, even for those of us that have asked for it.

    Cons

Year end 2014 numbers are coming out and management is already talking to several sales people about not being able to pay them their full commission.

This is an old Telco company stuck in the 1990's and most of the Middle Management are men who have been employed by Mitel or a Mitel acquisition on average of 22 years. Forward, out of the box thinking is not in their vocabulary. Management works in a vacuum and does not listen to the expertise of the people they have hired. The Sales Staff across all markets has not been paid correctly since I have been here. Most comp plans come out qtrs after numbers have come in and there is no way to reconcile the numbers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

'A' employees are leaving or looking for jobs, but all the deadwood is hanging on. HR tells everyone that talks to them that they are the only one complaining. Newsflash, when people aren't paid what their comp plan states, they talk to each other. HR is aware of all the discrepancies and their no action approach tells everyone that they hope we will all just go away and brush it under the rug. Sad, but true.

    Pros

The people you work with are great. It's a challenging and rewarding place to work personally and professionally.

    Cons

Management is in Canada and if you are in the states, you don't matter. Outsourcing as much of the US work to India or Canada.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that you get what you pay for. Two India SW developers may be cheaper to hire, but they sure don't possess the skills that the development engineers did. Pride in the products that were developed in the US made it a quality product, that's what selling for you today.

I have been working at Mitel Networks full-time

    Pros

Good benefits - and getting better in 2015.
    Decent salary. Good profit sharing.
No micro-managing, great communication channel with managers and directors.

    Cons

As one person put it, "You'd better negotiate a good starting salary because that is what you will make, period." Salaries (for non-commissioned employees) are stagnant when compared to the inflation rate. When raises are offered they are a standard percentage across the board regardless whether you are a mediocre employee or someone who has greatly increased their skills/knowledge/return on investment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set clear, achievable goals and rewards tied to those goals.
Add peer reviews and take peer reviews into consideration when completing official employee reviews.

    Pros

Focused strategy, product innovation, dedicated people and improving investment in people

    Cons

Career development, need to update processes and technology for managing a global business, stronger cross-functional teaming

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep pushing people and technology investments and grow the top-line, no substitute for winning!

FY14 New benefits in the US, merit increases, improved global compensation programs, broader equity program, first global culture survey focused on targeted action plans by business unit, successful integration of 3 companies, meeting shareholder commitments, improved channel relationships, globalizing the product portfolio, new executive talent in APAC, Marketing, HR, and Sales....growing while competitors are declining.

I worked at Mitel Networks full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There are some good people left there, and some of their products are doing well. They are doing okay in their market sector.

    Cons

There's a disconnect between upper management and the facts on the ground. Internal communication is very weak across the company. Mid level managers manage up. Morale is low.

I have been working at Mitel Networks full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This is a company on the move. I have been with the company for 7 years (14 if you consider time at a company that was acquired). Mitel seems poised to move into a strong leadership position in the midmarket space and consolidate the industry.

Room to move in the company if you're ambitious and are a hard worker.

    Cons

Confusion on product portfolio due to new acquisitions. Healthcare package could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Products don't launch - they escape from the lab. More focus is needed on proper launch including marketing, sales enablement. Products need to integrate better form a management perspective - too many interfaces.

I worked at Mitel Networks full-time

    Pros

There are no pros at Mitel.

    Cons

Mitel is like a wild west saloon, pretending to be a professional company. If you have integrity and real business skills, then no paycheck will make Mitel worth your time. On the other hand, if you don't mind turning your head the other way and stroking executive egos all day (among other things), then go on over - they'd love to have you.
