I have been working at Mitratech full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A Great Environment, If you are looking to move up and around and gain experience Mitratech is the place to start your career

    Cons

Not to many here, If I had to say anything it would be the interview process. Way to many interviews for most positions.

    Advice to Management

Continue to allow your employees to have an affect on the company, And with that said don't be afraid to let go of some process.

    Pros

Mitratech hires very smart people. Everyone works very hard at their job and there is a very fun vibe in the office. I trust the leadership team in their decisions and I truly believe they want their employees to be happy. Mitratech does fun things like happy hours, snacks (which usually run out quickly), field days, intramural sports, and volunteering opportunities.

    Cons

Salaries are way below average. Most people in the company are having to work nights and weekends just to keep up with the workload. There is open PTO but there is so much work to do, it's hard to get away.

    Advice to Management

They need to hire more people in certain departments and be able to see when their employees are being burned out. There is only so much work you will do for low pay. The stress of the workload is starting to out weigh the company culture perks.

I worked at Mitratech full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Probably the market leader in ELM software, at least for now. Smart people (you have to be to pass the pre-employment test) Great place for 20-somethings, with limited experience and don't mind being managed on a daily basis and who want to break into the enterprise software market.

    Cons

Training: 12-weeks, mostly rudimentary content including e-learning modules ("What is Sales", How to conduct a business meeting; How to prospect via phone; etc. Seriously, if you don't already know this stuff you probably shouldn't be interviewed in the first place. In-class training covering topics like "What is a lawyer", how legal offices are structured, how to make information gathering phone calls. Book Reports: a book assigned every week for a report due every Monday morning. Demonstrations: management is primarily concerned with form over content. Better bring your "swagger." You must "pass" these demos to finish "boot camp." Heavily scripted and no room for individual style. Judging is completely subjective. Compensation: low base ($60-$75k) + commissions. Here is the deal: commission rate is subjective and determined at the time the deal closes and paid only after the customer pays. Deals take 9-12 months to close and weeks/months to implement, so forget about getting a commission check in your first year and AE's have 25-30 accounts. Of the deals in the pipeline half will end with the customer making no decision and half of the other half will be lost to the competition usually based on cost. Also, compensation is activity based which means you get points for logging activities in Salesforce.com and there is a minimal expectation of 2000 points/month. If you miss your points (and every point is scrutinized) your commission check will be docked. The Future: the company is owned by Vista Equity, a VC firm based in Austin. Vista WILL be selling off Mitratech in the next 18-24 months, that is a given and it is discussed openly in the office. What does that mean? Well, given the sales process can take 12-months you might be able to close 2-3 deals before Mitratech is sold and as such, you probably aren't going to make much money while you are there. Bottom line: best to start looking for your next job on your first day at Mitratech.

    Advice to Management

First, if you have to micro-manage your sales professionals with ABC and daily calls, you are probably hiring the wrong people. Compensation plan is heavily leveraged by commissions so professional sales people will already be motivated to do what needs to be done. Second, you get what you pay for and the low base and uncertain commissions pretty much exclude anyone with the experience you really need for the job. "Swagger" - seriously, that is not a qualification for a sales professional calling on C-level execs in Fortune 250 accounts.

I have been working at Mitratech full-time

    Pros

I've been here for about a year and my experience has always been positive. You're surrounded by a smart, youthful, and professional staff who all drive and support one another. The mood around the office is always either calm or charged, with occasional bouts of laughter from yonder. No one is truly alone here, there is always someone, a manager or a co-worker, who are more than willing to help you or hear you out. Whether you like it or not, the people you work with becomes something like a second family and this group always looks out for one another, even across departments. The organization is very flat, and you can talk to the CEO, the VP, or anybody about anything and they're always glad to connect with you and open to making your experience here better.

    Cons

Our company has to adhere to the Vista model, which is built on giving inexperienced yet motivated people opportunities and it's a way for our parent company to maintain a less than competitive salary

    Advice to Management

The road of development will always be a bumpy, beware of charting long term plans according to a smooth and flawless trajectory

I have been working at Mitratech full-time

    Pros

I really enjoy coming to work at Mitratech - the people are smart, enthusiastic, and fun to be around, the leadership is open and transparent about how we are doing as a company, and the work is interesting.

    Cons

There's always alot of change going on, so you have to be prepared to roll with the punches. The salaries aren't the highest in the market.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the pockets of middle management that aren't equipped to be good managers. Pay up for employees that are bringing alot of value to the company.

I worked at Mitratech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Willing to give a chance to inexperienced developers. A chance to build experience with technologies which are in demand. High morale in the sales and support departments. Office grounds are pleasant. An excellent source of contract work. Would recommend for contractors.

    Cons

Pay is low and developers are not treated with respect. As a result, morale is very low, and they have a very high turn-over rate. They had difficulty attracting experienced talent, so there were a lot of inexperienced programmers with no mentoring. Upper management is unprofessional and vindictive. They also seem inexplicably dismissive of quality control. Expect to be micromanaged, but not well. Some of this may be due to the parent company, which could be placing unreasonable demands on local management.

    Advice to Management

When no one speaks up in meetings, it means they don't trust you. Also, don't let the salaried employees know that they're getting paid less than half what the contractors are.

    I worked at Mitratech full-time

    Pros

There is a nice view from the office.

    Cons

The pay is so low that it is not worth your time. Developers are treated like they are unimportant, and not worth anything to the company. They can't keep employees and yet they keep placing more demands on the current workers. To make matters worse, they have a manager who has never written a line of code in her life. This place has so much potential but is mismanaged by the parent company Vista.

    Pros

I've never worked for an organization that has cared more about both the advancement of the company as well as each individual employee. They really try to make your life as easy as they can (as long as you put effort into your job) with excellent benefits, opportunity for advancement and the willingness to be open with both other employees as well as management. The CEO genuinely cares about all employees and always has an open door.

    Cons

A lot is expected of you during training and it can be a bit tedious but also really helps give you a strong foundation for what you will be doing in your position.

    Advice to Management

The company events that are planned are great team-building exercises, even with people that aren't in your department. It might be beneficial to have one more of those each year and make it more available for remote employees to join as well.

    I worked at Mitratech full-time

    Pros

Only good for entry level. Get a year or 2 of experience and leave.

    Cons

Low pay. Average benefits. Half the people that work here have no work ethic, the other half pick up the slack. This does not seem to matter when it comes to promotions, those seem to have no basis for being handed out. The development department is going downhill fast, avoid at all costs. This site is also riddled with fake reviews. Don't believe them.

    Advice to Management

Making a poor internal hire to replace the vp of engineering has resulted in many people leaving. Pay more and get someone more experienced and less concerned about covering their own rear.

    Pros

It provided an opportunity to get some quick, entry-level experience.

    Cons

When I worked there, there didn't seem to be a strategic vision or plan. The senior management was comprised of mostly family members, and there seemed to restructure departments randomly and frequently.

    Advice to Management

I met some great people there, so HR and recruiting did a solid job of building out a staff.
