I have been working at Mitratech full-time for more than a year
Pros – Many opportunities to those seeking to break into the software development, support, management, etc industry.
Values aptitude over experience and offers training and mentoring to cover the gaps. I have seen some new hires (as well as many old) of senior and managerial be let go despite industrial experience - where it wasn't compatible with Mitratech's expectations of quality.
However, much experience in development and support is on the job - again an excellent opportunity to prove onesself.
Changed focus to development from services - deficiencies are being addressed proactively instead of reactively as per old Modus Operandi.
Chain of command is highly respected. No dealing with more than a single boss or two.
Strong initial PTO and fairly laid-back and friendly environment.
I have seen people moved from one position to another they are more suited for and have a desire to work in. Several interns being made full-time or promoted. Strong upward mobility.
Cons – Reliance on swarth of overseas labor reduced: job is no longer a sinecure as per pre-Vista. Old Guard mentality eliminated after acquisition.
Still a slave to patchwork/reactionary development due to yet unstreamlined customizations nearsightedly cobbled during pre-Vista acquisition.
Obstructionists let go - sadly, so did knowledge of workarounds, patchworks, and the spaghetti logic of product.
Aggressive and at times unrealistic product release schedule.
I do worry about Mitratech being a stepping-stone to other Vista companies in some cases.
Compensation and bonus aren't very exciting and potentially below market - focus seems more on the opportunities for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue respecting chain of command, this works well. Constructive criticisms should be given, but restrict complaints without solutions. Focus on interdepartmental synergy and how we can help each other - blame shifting must cease. Finally, aggressive cycles should be re-evaluated and focus placed on evaluating available resources: stretch us to but not beyond our limits.

I have been working at Mitratech full-time for more than a year
Pros – If you really really want to live in Austin and think it is a good place to be for the rest of your life.
Cons – 1. They keep hiring people and keep firing people - no stability. After using you, and fire you. People are trying to leave this company consistently as well. For this size of a company (100 employees), every week you hear new (young, innocent) staff is coming or someone is leaving or getting fired. And you don't even know why those people are getting fired - they are doing pretty good. The logic of any vista company is to hire new guys at really low price (that's why some of the senior positions still cannot be filled for more than a year), and then they treat them bad, see them as deposable items. They fired a lot of experienced people to keep the cost down, fire random managers when the company finance look bad, or fire anyone who has different opinions. They fired all the experienced developers who was with the company for more than 10 years to save money. They fired at least 6 managers so far for no reason. Significant amount of people chose to leave here within their 1 year of service. Oh they just fired the CEO recently after his one year at Mitratech.
2. Very very low pay. Much lower than the market. But they are expecting you do much more. Just stay away, you are much better than that.
3. The management is not good. They obey immoral Vista guild lines, take advantage of their employees. This is a software company, but they never care about the software. What they want to do is to put sales and services first, boost the revenue, then make the financial statistics look good, then sell the company to another investor at a good price, despite of the business model cannot last after it is sold because of the quality of the software. They want immediate results, near sighted, never think about long run results. And they lie, never take their words seriously!!
4. Not much career growth for people. Well, I bet you want to leave the company after you spend several months there anyway. And after unknown months or years, the Vista will sell the company anyway.
5. Management again. A lot of department leaders lack of the capacities and even the understanding of their business. They cannot make a good decision. And the decision making process is not transparent; they always want to hide something. And they don't want to communicate. They really need to respect people. They don't want to listen to you.
6. The work culture can be "fun" sometimes, also very very immature. That's fine but the most important thing is that not much trust among the team. They only want to shift blames and play too much politics.

I have been working at Mitratech full-time

I worked at Mitratech full-time for less than a year
Pros – -people are generally nice to work with, even though incompetent.
- I was only there 6 months and no longer.
Cons – - management with little to no experience in running a company leads to knee-jerk decisions.
- poor hiring practices. For example, hiring product managers that think because they've taken a Pragmatic Marketing course that they are now experts at creating valued products.
- recent acquisition has sent things into a death spiral.
- limited upward mobility
Advice to Senior Management – Turn your jobs over to those that know how to run a startup.

I worked at Mitratech full-time for less than a year
Pros – The people are great, the work is usually laid back (until management makes poor decisions), and lots of company events and gatherings.
Cons – Some of upper management have very poor management skills and have sent the company into a downward spiral.
Advice to Senior Management – ... I don't even know how I could give advice to management; their management skills are nearly the exact opposite of how I would manage a company. Work on personal relations maybe? If you do not know your workers, I would say that's not doing a good job.

I have been working at Mitratech full-time for less than a year
Pros – Moving in the right direction since acquisition by Vista. Investing in staff, training and products to move the company forward and correct some of the errors of the past.
Cons – Still experiencing some pains from the transition. Support still having some issues but mostly due to bring all support in house.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep moving forward, make sure you listen to employees and continue to put processes in place to make them successful.

I have been working at Mitratech
Pros – Mitratech was acquired recently. The transition was rocky. However, Mitratech is now implementing processes that have been needed for YEARS and that will truly improve the effectiveness and the efficiency within the company. Mitratech offers many chances to get involved in projects with other departments and recognizes hard, good work. Because of their parent company, Mitratech also offers advancement in other portfolio companies which is something I have never experienced before. Overall, the people are great and the environment is fun and rewarding.
Cons – One of the cons is that because Mitratech is a portfolio company, some of the standard operating procedures are non-negotiable, even if they don't fit the business model 100%. Also, Mitratech likes to provide opportunities to professionals early in their career. Although this is commendable, it can also be time-consuming and frustrating working with individuals which such little work and professional experience.
Advice to Senior Management – I think it's important to incorporate SOPs but I also think that we need to be agile and flexible in our application thereof. Not all software companies are the same and they can't be treated as such. Also, I think it's important to develop people who not only work hard but who exemplify leadership skills that other people respect. Lastly, manager should lead by example and they should be coached as soon as an issue arises, not once a mole hill has grown.

I worked at Mitratech
Pros – The customers are great and very loyal to the product. The product is complex and the code base is huge providing developers with endless opportunities for diversity in broadening their skills.
Cons – - More than 40% of the staff has left the company at all levels (Engineers, Professional Services, QA, Documentation, Sales, Managers, and Executives)
- They are pushing out more experienced people for young less expensive recent grads in Austin. (Over 50 Job postings on Glassdoor for Austin)
- They have one person left in Quality Control and customers are already calling to complain
- They are not open to ideas and improvements that do not follow their standard operating procedures.
- They foster a fear based culture rather than a reward based culture
Advice to Senior Management – - Be honest with the employees
- Be honest with the customers
- Make an attempt to retain domain expertise for more than six months before everyone else finds another job and leaves
- Focus on product quality
