    Pros

Fantastic Benefits, parent company and culture (Japanese) provides an interesting contribution to the overall guidance of the company. Very traditional, conservative, and stable.

    Cons

Some of the senior level employees have minimal experience working anywhere except at MEPPI and can be somewhat close-minded to anything "NIH" or a new way of thinking.

    Advice to Management

Brian Heery is a great Senior Level Manager (US MEPPI) as he understands the importance of balancing both IQ and EQ. There are a lot of other senior manager who should follow his lead and learn to step down off their ivory pedastal and truly engage with workers.

    Pros

Small company: tight knit community. Well meaning and friendly co workers. Good stability due to demand of their products.

    Cons

Smaller company, so less room to "move up the ladder".

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work so far. Keep an eye out for new opportunities, which may be overlooked since the company's manufacturing role is quite clear and set.

    Pros

Competitive salary. Average benefits. Growing company.

    Cons

Salary average, just enough to keep you from looking elsewhere. Average benefits, but not as good as the company says they are. Growth managed well on paper, but it's helter-skelter at the operational levels. Not a team environment. People are too busy to be friendly.

    Advice to Management

Rely more on worker strengths, not HR, IT, & business automation systems.

    Pros

Totally feels like I hit the lottery by coming to work here. Very horizontal management structure where everyone is treated with respect as a member of the overall team. Opportunities for self-advancement abound via MEPPI University (in house employee education initiative), on / off site training & more. Employees are treated like adults, with nobody constantly testing you or looking over your shoulder.

While the rest of the world seems to continue to be mired in recession/depression, thanks to North America's aging electrical infrastructure and the need to shore it up/replace it over the next several decades, MEPPI is a growing company that will continue to see good things for quite some time.

    Cons

Like any Japanese subsidiary, dealing w/ a very conservative parent company on the other side of the pond can present some interesting challenges. Sometimes overzealous American president can occasionally seem more devoted to work than many Japanese.

    Advice to Management

When employees are already putting in 50-60 hours a week, management insisting on us "soldiering through" can seem a bit of a stretch.

  8. Helpful (1)

Progressive company, employee focused, future growth and stability

    Pros

Much care, fact finding and analysis is performed before important decisions are made. The conservative, Japanese business culture is apparent within the company. Consideration for the common good, continued growth of the company and its employees is priority.

    Cons

Limited opportunity for growth and advancement for women or those who are not schooled or working within the engineering departments.
