Former Employee – worked at Mizuho OSI as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – As an engineer, there is a lot of exposure to different manufacturing processes, which can be used as a great learning experience. Because it's a smaller company, an individual sometimes has a lot of responsibility, and good work COULD be recognized. Most individuals in the company are very pleasant to work with. Pay is average; if the company does well, a large bonus is dolled out; benefits are better than most companies. The company has had record profit numbers for the last few years in a row.
Cons – Little to no effort is made (mostly) to communicate effectively down the chain of command. Decisions are many times made sporadically, without regard to how lower employees or sometimes whole departments are affected, even with long-term, company-wide changes. (Ex: change of ERP system). Almost all of management is comprised of socialite personalities who value "not rocking the boat" (I heard this phrase far too many times from people in many departments) over competence, performance, or values.
Some departments are almost negligently under-staffed.
Advice to Senior Management – Get to know your organization better. Take time and make more effort to understand the immediate and long-term impacts of your decisions.
Also: re-evaluate the product line or support procedures, there are too many products and an inadequate system to support them all efficiently.

Current Employee – been working at Mizuho OSI
Pros – Wonderful co-workers. The "worker bees" are great.
Cons – Horrible executive and upper level management. From the President on down, they are incompetent. No communication, no vision, no strategy, no leadership. There is a lot of politics and infighting. HR does not support the employees. There is no room for advancement. There is a "gotcha" mentality and most of the workforce is demoralized. There are upper lever managers who are allowed to walk around, yelling and screaming, slamming doors, and that is considered being "passionate about their work." Very dysfunctional work environment.
Advice to Senior Management – The parent company in Japan needs to clean house. Bring in new management from the President and GM on down. Bring in some true HR professionals who support the employees and will destroy the toxic work environment.
