Absolute Junk company - STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN

    Consultant (Former Employee)

ProsNothing really. Absolutely no pros that can be listed. Nothing!!!

    ConsWork 12 + hours a day
How much ever time and effort you put into doing work, its never done.
    Lots of dissatisfied customers
Fortune 500 Clients of this product are extremely dissatisfied as the product has no credibility
Its a matter of time before there will be a slew of lawsuits against this company for clients losing revenue.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo advice. They will keep doing what they do best that is bullshitting to the clients.

Good learning experience but company culture has changed for the worse and company is not stable

Manager (Former Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsRecognition of ideas and thought, ability to work closely with Product and Professional services teams, good team collaboration, culture was close knit until the IPO and now there's no culture

ConsPoor Strategic Management, Company tried to change culture by hiring folks from Consulting industry but never paid attention to the dramatic cultural shift that happened. Processes changed from normal to over-engineering making it difficult to get work done. Company hired too many higher level folks in Management who do not know anything about the product, resulting in a deadly spiral, competition has heated up and Customers are not happy because of pushy company management.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of all the fat at the top of the organization, reduce the # of levels in the company, make it more flat. Software companies should have more engineers and less managers, let creativity thrive and do not stop innovating.

    Typical small enterprise software company

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood opportunity for those beginning their career. The engineering and product teams are fairly strong. The culture is okay but not great. Get ready to work with India all hours of the night.

ConsCompany has been around for a long time and the culture and products reflect this. A lot of people have been here for many years and are too comfortable. The products are not that impressive - technology is relatively old. The markets are limited. It's more of a services company than a products company.

Good company with a lack of foresight and execution model.

Senior Member of Technical Staff (Current Employee) Redwood City, CA

    ProsWork-life balance and the people

ConsOutdated technology, excessive off-shoring, middle management clueless on how to address product issues, buggy product affecting sales numbers, high attrition and low employee satisfaction ratings.

Advice to Senior ManagementAccept and acknowledge the real issues facing the company and take concrete steps to address them.

Company doesn't take care of current customers. They only want new ones

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThey hire good people. Work is interesting.

ConsThe benefits are weak. Vacation time is dictated by Model N. They don't focus on existing customers, only on new ones. They have had a number of large scale layoffs. The most recent was in October 2013

Advice to Senior ManagementBring in a senior leadership team that knows how to manage customers and execute sales processes. The entire senior team is comprised of engineers

    Uncertain Future

    Consultant (Current Employee)

Pros1. The best aspect of working for Model N is the coworkers. In general, the people at Model N are friendly and easy to get along with.

    2. Depending on the needs of the customer, the job is very flexible and allows for working remotely when necessary.

Cons1. The biggest downside to Model N is the lack of job security. With Model N's current situation, it is hard to tell what the future will hold for the company. After a recent round of heavy layoffs, the uncertainty among employees can be felt.

    2. As a consultant for Model N a lot of time is spent battling with the Product Development team. Often times the software does not work as it should and there is unnecessary push back from PD when the focus should be on what makes the costumer happy.

    3. It often feels that there is not enough support and team members can be stretched thin at times.

    4. The compensation and benefits leave much to be desired.

Room for Improvement for Boston Office

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Boston, MA

ProsWork life balance with opportunity to work from home when neccesary
Fully stocked Kitchen and weekly catered lunch
Company outings - dinners, cookouts, annual clambake
Reimbursement for healthcare opt-out (great bonus if your spouse has coverage)
Quiet office - good for heads down working

ConsQuiet office - there is no buzz of creativity in the air
Meetings often scheduled on west coast time (during our lunch/dinner)
Aggressive release cycles often lead to poor quality
No visibility into company health - 6 months after celebrating an IPO, 25% of the company was sent to pack up their desks.
Inflated company goals ensure bonuses don't have to be paid out.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
