A well -run services company despite some local issues with poor employees.

IT Project Manager (Former Employee)
Jacksonville, FL

I worked at Modis full-time for more than 8 years

ProsCompensation was excellent and the marketing department rocked when helping with RFP;s etc.

ConsCompletely hypocritical senior management. Also, they had a problem with a tech support person harassing women when he goes on the road. A bit of a boys club but that may have changed.

Advice to Senior ManagementPeople in glass houses.

Overall, my experience with MODIS has been great.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Modis

ProsHR was great and worked with me to ensure that time and benefit information were processed quickly.

ConsModis did not have a great benefit package prior to 2014, however, the packages offered in 2014 are laughable, Even more so since no additional benefits were adjusted (ie, PTO added or rates increased).

Poorly managed from the top down, there are better options

Account Manager (Former Employee)
Phoenix, AZ

I worked at Modis full-time for less than a year

Pros-Access to some very large national accounts
-Brand recognition can open some doors
-Decent commission plan

Cons-Regional and local office management leaves a lot to be desired... turn over is VERY high here, even when compared to other staffing firms

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on building strong managing directors, provide clear goals to your sales and delivery teams and a path for career advancement

Not Bad but Not As Good As When Ajilon

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Modis

ProsSome decent branch people. OK connections to area companies.

ConsBad benefits (poor medical, few holidays). Below average reps and branch staff.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow you really care about consultants. Understand IT consultants (we are not office temps). Don't act like a bunch of bean counters. Boost benefits.

Purging Older Workers

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Modis full-time for more than 8 years

Pros- really enjoyed the branch I worked in; nice people, great camaraderie
- pay was good
- PTO plan good

Cons- very poor communications
- decisions based on favorites vs. objective assessments
- new hires selected on "looks and age"
- caustic commentary about individuals is hurtful and damaging to morale
- very dominated by men at the top and middle; very few women in management
- company is purging older workers; replacing them with cheap 20-somethings who know nothing about the business and are promised huge dividends, then quit when they are not forthcoming

Advice to Senior ManagementI wish the president would take a good hard look at his direct reports and replace those that are only about building fiefdoms vs. adding to value. The situation in Denver is a powder keg and will explode soon if balanced, long sighted leadership is not introduced.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Terrible place to work

IT Recruiter (Current Employee)
Englewood, CO

I have been working at Modis full-time for more than a year

ProsWould be an OK place for a recent grad looking for their first job.

ConsPay, Management, Organization, Process, Morale

Advice to Senior ManagementStop letting every valuable recruiter walk away because of pay and lack of respect and start replacing team leads and management.

If you are desperate for a job, they'll find one, But they'll cheat you in no time flat.

Customer Service (Former Employee)
Dallas, TX

I worked at Modis as a contractor for less than a year

ProsThey got me a job very quickly at an employer with good pay. The job they got me was a stepping stone which gave me the skills that I used to get my current job which is at the best company ever. So I guess... thank you?

ConsThey cheated me out of my graveyard shift differential. I worked 11 pm - 7 am and got maybe 60 cents extra not the 20% promised to me when I started. One month after working said graveyard shift they proceeded to claim the employer didn't want to pay it anymore when I had been told by other employees (who had volunteered said information, I did not ask) from other temp agencies that they were getting the differential. They basically said I could leave if I wanted to, I had no recourse and felt trapped. Once my apartment lease was done 6 months later, I left the employer and the city, I was so disgusted.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't encourage your account managers to be shady for the sake of the bottom line. I work for a great company right now who really demonstrates great leadership, they embrace transparency and valuing their employees which is currently paying off big time.

Spinning my wheels

Talent Sourcer (Current Employee)
Denver, CO

I have been working at Modis full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat entry level sales, cold calling, on the job experience.

ConsSome branches are better than others. There are some that are set up to succeed and will do great, the others will scrap and bite for the remaining decent business left to shovel.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a look into your management team. Listen to employees.

Worked for Modis for 1 year.

Reource Development Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Modis full-time for more than a year

ProsVery competitive commission structure. Ample opportunity to make placements.

ConsVery heavily metrics-based. Calls are monitored and dials are counted every day. A lot of unrealistic metrics lead to high stress levels.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus more on quality vs. quantity.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
