    Pros

Office Culture, Personal Growth, and Leadership

    Cons

When I left my internship, the only reason why I was not hired was due to budget cuts.

I worked at Moffitt Cancer Center as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

I was a temporary contractor in their Human Resources Dept. I did a large project for them. I could not ask for a nicer group of people to work with.

    Cons

I can not think of any.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing. I was only there a short time. If I could obtain a permanent position there, I would in a heart beat!

I worked at Moffitt Cancer Center full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedules, good pay for nurses, leaders in research of cancer and treatment, good nurse/patient ratios, clinical ladder.

    Cons

Focus shifted to becoming a magnet hospital, paying for parking, raises are not annually, education benefit was cut for those of us wanting to become ARNPs or CNS as they were pushing all Associate RNs to become BSNs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Divide the clinical ladder into sections so people can climb the ladder and maintain their rate of pay. Too much all or nothing where this is concerned.

I worked at Moffitt Cancer Center

    Pros

Passion of the workforce. Good medical benefits and vacation policy. They really want to find a cure for cancer.

    Cons

Very naive outside the field of medicine and oncology. Clickish. If you're not part of the group, you don't know what's going on and you feel like management is going to do what it wants to do, regardless of the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and involve them in decision making at the lower level, but also at the strategic level.

    Cons

  9. Outstanding People and Great Mission; Don't Promote From Within and Low Salary

I worked at Moffitt Cancer Center full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people that work for Moffitt are wonderful! They truly care about the patients and their co-workers. I felt like I was making a difference when I went into work everday even though I rarely had patient contact.

    Cons

The salary is low and they rarely promote from within. It seems a lot of the issues are from lower management and HR. The CEO is trying to foster positive change, but HR and the lower level managers seem to be stuck in their ways.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise salaries to be competitive and give loyal employees a chance to move up and into different departments that may interest them. The HR department needs to be cleaned out and new people need to be brought in. They literally told me they don't give any added consideration to internal candidates. That's a moral killer.

I worked at Moffitt Cancer Center

    Pros

Was great to be part of the largest cancer center in Florida with some impressive clinicians and researchers.

    Cons

Definitely need to clean house at the top. Leadership has been in place far too long. The organization needs new ideas and up-to-date technologies. Theleadership clique at the top and in middle management doesn't get what it takes to run an employer of choice organization, although they talk about becoming one. It's all talk and no action. Salaries are far too low and benefits have been cut to the bone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start paying attention to the front line staff. Enter into the 20th century in terms of management skills. Put the focus on strong, effective management.
