Pros
Flexible hours, good work life balance
Cons
Paid time off is bad
Advice to Senior Management
add more benefits
Pros
A large organization with a number of opportunities for growth. There are some very capable managers with a good vision for where the organization needs to go to be better.
Cons
There are still a number of silos within Mohawk, which tremendously hinder the cross pollination of experience and knowledge between departments. There is effort to change this but not everyone is onboard with it yet. The company has an aging work force, which is promising for young professionals entering the organization and looking to rise; however, it results in a strong level of resistance to change and new ideas.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to push for the utilization of solid metrics to improve processes throughout the organization. There also should be more crossover of experience between divisions rather than waiting until people reach the higher levels of the organization before exposing them to the way other departments function.
Pros
I thought the company would provide a good place to work, was I wrong.
Cons
for the group I worked in, management knew nothing about the jobs they supervised. their style of management is like a prison. they don't really want ways of improving things. white collar employees, are treated like blue collar employees.
Advice to Senior Management
I'd say start over with new managers in most white collar groups. promoting someone from the production line into a Finance Manager role, usually don't work. there is something called education that needs to be in place for that to work.
Pros
Steady work, smart c-suite mgt, execution focused.
Cons
Dominated by a unsustainable, silo commodity manufacturing mindset (get er done) rather than a true "mohawk makes the room" customer focused, employee engaged, value added, brand leveraged, market driven embraced passion.
Advice to Senior Management
Up your game. Go to a modern product management system where product managers and the market drive manufacturing. Commit to a transition timetable away from the unsustainable push commodity business model and manufacturing dictating organization. Use excellent speed to market infrastructure (logistics) and slimmed down plants to deliver custom total rooms so fast they'll freak.
Pros
Opportunity to learn the industry and sales skills.
Cons
Like many companies promotions offen go without being posted nor to the qualified candidate
Advice to Senior Management
Get out and travel and see how the customers and front line employess feel.
Pros
Decent Pay,
Knowledgable leadership team
Global exposure
Strong HR department
Laid back atmosphere
Strong community among team members
Product you can be proud of
Cons
Disconnect between business and IT
Horrible benefits package compared to comparable jobs
Lack of communication overall across the business
Needs to upgrade IT systems
Advice to Senior Management
Open up to more advancement and pay raises. Often, there is too little given if any at all for the standard employee. Improve the benefits package pronto. Not just the standard health care, but time off.
Pros
They have good benefits and the pays not bad
Cons
consent threat of being let go
random days off without pay
no respect for employ's home life
Advice to Senior Management
work on morale,
Pros
The pay is good for the area and benefits are ok. The commitment of the employees to one and the other is pretty high as well.
Cons
Where to start. The condition of the equipment and machinery is very poor. The training of new employee's is inadequate. The upper management communication is non existent, in fact the only time you hear from them is when they are unhappy about something. The thing i hate the most is that most everyone just doesn't have any pride in the work they do anymore.
Advice to Senior Management
Ask your hourly workers what is needed to make it a good place to work, and a product to be proud of.
Pros
Steady Pay-Check. That's about it.
Cons
They expect you to work 90 hrs a week including weekends, all while earning 40 percent less than we did 3 years ago. They don't care if you quit or move on because they will replace you with a kid right out college for 35-40G. In fact, most of the existing sales force believes that is their overall plan.
Advice to Senior Management
You currently have the most disgruntled sales force in the entire industry. If you don't think it is recognized by the dealers ...you’re not paying attention. I have never met a Mohawk rep that wouldn't leave tomorrow if offered another opportunity.
Pros
work and life balance
steady paycheck
nice laidback people
Cons
no talent
no money
no pay raise
stagnant job
Advice to Senior Management
know your good people and take care or else they will be gone and you have to find new costly employees
