I worked at Mohawk Industries full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

great benefits. Room for advancement. Worldwide opportunities. Good products

    Cons

some bad middle management. micro managing. They blamed sales reps for drop in business during the economic downturn. They buy companies and then salespeople compete against them instead of merging with them. Do not value the mom and pop stores. Looking for large business partners. You will work a lot of hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick with what got you here when things were bad. Let reps do their job

I worked at Mohawk Industries full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

steady paycheck, dedicated and competent workers in the lower ranks,

    Cons

    Subpar benefits and getting worse.

Narcissistic upper managers brought in from other companies that have failed because of them. Normally a red flag in the hiring process but when HR function is so weak that is what happens.

Very few paid holidays, and most of those spend working.

No work / life balance for some, very good for others.

Certain people frowned on if they work less than 12 hours a day, while others rarely work more than 8 hours. The same people expected to work 12 hours a day are also on call 24/7/365, while the 8 hours a day workers have no other responsiblity after hours. Others allowed or take it upon themselves to work 4 days a week because they refuse to relocate and want to commute back home on Friday.

Workers that actually care about the company and truly make a difference are either overlooked or fired, while others that only care about themselves and are not truly making a difference are rewarded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take note of the Cons above as this is very demoralizing to your middle managers and below. You have and will continue to lose outstanding performers if you do not wake up and make a change. Take a serious look at your HR department from the top down.

I worked at Mohawk Industries for more than 10 years

    Pros

Fortune 500 company which is financially secure. Very aggressive innovative leadership. Was given the opportunity to grow and implement processes which were are still in place today. Mohawk went beyond the call of duty to take care of several cancer survivors. While benefits are average the mid and upper management compensation is well above average.

    Cons

Last 6 years have been a tough transitional period with many lay-offs and down sizing as fewer are having to do more which results in a more stressful culture. Some Sr. leadership are not in touch with their teams and can be volatile at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within. Make sure you do the proper diligence before hiring new Sr. Level executives because the company as recently experienced unnecessary exposure in some of the labor environments.

    Pros

Pay is a ok, but still is not good enough for what you have to go through.
    Good Vacation plan.

    Cons

    Extreme pressure from management,
Insurance is no good, they do not want to pay for anything.
Constantly being told how you are going to lose your job.
They want to own the employees.
Management is now making contest to see who is doing the best job.
The problem is that friend is going against friend to get the most claims.
Employees stealing other employees work to make it look as if they did more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lay off the employees. The moral is horrible because of management.

I have been working at Mohawk Industries full-time

    Pros

Nice people, forward-thinking, innovative, solid leadership team, opportunities for advancement if you work yourself to death

    Cons

Mediocre benefits and pay, nepotism is rampant, long commute if you live in Atlanta

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You know how to build a successful company. But can you keep it together? Please, don't forget about employee morale. Here lately, it's been pretty terrible across the board. Less people are doing more work and there aren't enough incentives or perks to keep the quality professionals we need to stay competitive.
